X-Men '97

Yeah, the yellow really struck me when I took him out of the shipping box. He definitely isn't matching the Walgreens girls. Not sure what that's about. The fireballs don't do much for me, either. He really should have come with an alternate powered-up head and neck.

Back to the yellow — what are the odds we get other New Mutants in similar hues? It feels very remote, to me. Actually what are the odds we get them at all? As excited as I was for a New Mutant in costume, depowered and by himself, he's kinda lame.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to return him to Amazon and just stick with the Strong Guy BAF figure until something better comes along, if it ever does.
Probably good odds if you're going for comic book look. It's an X-Men 97 figure so until we see otherwise, it's an exception, not a rule for the rest of the team.

Morph arrived today and I’m glad to have Gyrich standing in my Avengers display. But now I’ve got a Morph figure I have less than zero use for. Ah, well.

Throw it on Ebay loose! At this point, you'll make most of your money back.

BTW, for anyone who bought it for Gyrich, keep an eye on his glasses print! One of mine missed the lens by a bit and looked very odd.

Am I the only one who didn't buy Morph for Gyrich? 😅 I know he's an important character, but I just don't really have any interest/use for him. That head's probably going in the head bag (a sentence I never thought I'd say), since I don't know what body I'd use for him.

Jubilee got here today. Apparently Emma went from "about to ship" to "we have no idea when she'll ship". Guess she still needs a little time to recover from Genosha.

I bought Morph for Morph! He went right onto the shelf and a carded version replaced Bishop on my wall display. Jubilee replaced Nightcrawler, so now it's the main nine with Morph and Magneto filling it out. Dark Phoenix and Spiral also have spots, but Spiral's spot is going to Mystique when Target lets me buy one.

Morph's yellow may be too gold - I didn't re-watch the show to confirm his color, but his darker gold doesn't stand out as much as Sunspot's canary yellow. They did probably do that JUST so he wouldn't match future New Mutants. UGH.

I just grabbed civvies Logan at EB a little while ago and he's pretty much as expected. Great looking figure. Wish they'd cut the jacket holes a little bit more oblong so his arms could go further down at his sides, and I don't love that they stuck with the pinned legs. And I wish Wolvie got painted claws, just as a general rule.

But I still really like him. Ever since the '90s I've wanted a Wolverine figure in this look that didn't suck. He's good enough for my shelf and that's good enough for me. But I wouldn't say he's a great figure or anything.

I missed out on Mystique too. I'm hoping she'll go the Jean and Xavier route and be pretty easy to find after a while. I have the old one, so it's not thaaaaat pressing, but she could certainly benefit from an update.

I wish the fur trim on his collar was painted all the way - they just didn't paint the inside of the collar.

Is the lower horizontal line of his shirt pattern crooked on yours? The pattern should stay symmetrical but it pulls up, kind of like they are going with the sculpt, but looks weird on mine.

But agreed - this is the civies Logan look I've always wanted.

Yeah, it goes up toward the right (his left). I agree that it seems intentional, probably to keep the design from looking like it's printed on a flat piece of paper rather than a humanoid body? It doesn't bother me much, though. I barely clocked it before you mentioned it and I went back to make sure.

So even though I don't plan to get the "final suit" figures, I bought Jubilee with the intention of kit bashing her into her standard look. I found a video of someone doing exactly as I planned and I don't know......the head is a bit big, flesh tones won't match, that lower torso on the old one is rough. I might just send Jubilee back to amazon, even though she does look good. Not sure on this one yet.

I have the original and the animated and I'm just going to reinforce for you that it doesn't look good unless you're willing to put in some paint or find some other unconventional parts. It's such an old body at this point.

Do you have the animated one? You could strip the cel shading off. That head is still pretty good.

Can anyone with the new 97 Morph try his white head on the AOA Morph's body? And also try his human head on the older VHS box animated Morph's body? I feel like both those figures never really got the faces done right. The new 97 Morph seems to have an odd chest in the video reviews I'm seeing too.
