NECA - General Thread

Just for the record, this is what I'm talking about. Original on the left, mine on the right (please forgive the godawful lighting). Neither are bad, per se, but the goat eyes on ol' Krampy definitely feels a bit more unique. Since the goat eyes do have that little bit of reddish orange on them, I could see mine just being a mistake where they forgot to add a layer or two, but the fact now that there are multiple has me wondering.

Hadn't realized it until you mentioned it either, Justice, but the robes on mine are a bit darker as well. Couldn't tell if it was just a lighting thing or not, but they do seem to be.

Oh, it still has the goat eyes. The way you guys were talking made it sound like they removed it entirely. No, yeah, all they did was update the paint apps for the new run. But the goat eye pupil is still there. Looking at a film still, the newer eyes and eyeball color are more accurate in coloration and blending it would appear.

Now I'm wondering if they updated anything on Der Klown paint-wise.

This doesn't really fit in with the upcoming/recent Neca talk, so I apologize, but wanted to mention that Neca has officially gotten my son into figure collecting. He flirted with it when he got a few Bandai One Piece figures, but never really got "bit by the bug" until now. I bought him a New Blood Jason and now he's got a Neca wishlist. He was shocked to find they produced such varied properties as Pee Wee Herman (on his list), ALF (on his list) and all the horror stuff (many of which are on his list). So...thanks, Neca? This is gonna cost me a lot, but it's fun sharing a hobby.

Well, I don't have the figure, so I'm just going off the picture...but all I see is a red area...not seeing the goat pupil at all. Am I missing something?

NICE! Love to hear about families sharing the hobby.

Add Sesame Street to the MIA stuff - they've shown Big Bird & Oscar figures, but where's the solicit? The first three were bang, bang, bang, now it's tumbleweeds.

Alos, where are people finding the new Red Mask Phantom? I saw Metaluna at Target but Phantom isn't even on their site although he seems like a simultaneous release...

Sesame Street may be ticketed for Target events as we saw with The Count. It seems like when NECA has a hit they leverage it with retail. The same thing happened with Gargoyles, until it wasn't a hit. Then it gets opened up to online retailers.

I got mine from NECA directly. Pre-ordered it the day it went up.

I would love a Krampus figure that looks like a more traditional European folklore one. No one has really done one. NECA movie ones aren’t it, 4 Horsemen one is too D&D and the Naughty Nice ones too Santa like. Not that they aren’t all well done

Huh, well now ya'll got me thinking I may need glasses. 😅 I definitely see it a bit better in the picture, but I don't really see the pupil at all in person. Or maybe I'm just losing the magic of Christmas.

Welcome to the hobby! There's nothing more special than sharing it with someone. Not sure how old he is, but if nothing else, they make good motivation to get good grades and stay out of trouble. Nothing got my butt in line as a kid more than the threat of having my toys taken away, and they certainly weren't NECA quality! 😂

If you zoom you can see it. It's a much subtler gradient.
I zoomed in and broke out my readers...I can see it now. Damn though...it's really hard to see!

Yeah, the 4H figures are probably the best, but they have a lot of armor that I don't associate with Krampus. The Fresh Monkey Fiction ones are okay...the two Santa suited variants aren't really my minds-eye of Krampus, but the "Nasty Krampus" is a bit better. I don't mind the booted feet, since some Krampus players in Alpine countries just use boots instead of hooves. Technically, you could have a Krampus with either two human-style feet, two hooves, or one foot and one hoof, since all are valid depictions. In my mind, since a Krampus is a type of creature, not a singular being, having some variety in the bodies and limbs is acceptable.

Still, I would really love to see a 1:12 or 1:10 figure that skewed more towards the traditional Alpine beast look. Big, shaggy, horned monster with a few chains and a basket. No armor, or even clothing, is really needed. I know John St. John originally planned to have a Krampus in his Creatureplica line, and if it was based on some of the statues he did, it would have been fantastic. With the Krampus tradition getting more and more known in the US (even if there are LOTS of misconceptions about it), I have to think we'll eventually see some toy company do a truly cool, traditional Krampus.

Hey, I had to really zoom in on that picture, and put my reading glasses on, to even remotely see it. I can imagine if I had the actual figure in hand that I'd be breaking out a magnifying glass to see it. Getting old sucks.

Do you know when the next Target event is supposed to be? At SDCC, I thought NECA implied Big Bird (I think he's next) was supposed to go up for pre-order soon. I certainly hope it's soon and maybe more than 1 figure get solicited at that time.
