It isn't a deal-breaker, but that was one of the aspects I was really impressed that NECA had nailed when I saw the early reviews.

Having the figures in-hand has me on a bit of a Krampus kick, so I may have to see if I can watch some of the behind the scenes stuff about it. I've always had a soft spot for the movie because, like Nightmare Before Christmas, it kinda combines my two favorite holidays, but I've oddly never done a deep dive into the movie. Knowing what he looks like up close I'm sure will help me appreciate him more in the movie.

The lack of goat eyes was definitely a bummer. No offense to goats, but I've always found those sideways pupils a bit creepy, and it really added to the figure. I'm really interested to see why they changed it. I can see this being a figure that's offloaded a lot from people's collection- he's a chunky boy, takes up a lot of room, and not everyone wants Christmas-related things displayed year-round, so if he ever goes up for resale anywhere, definitely keep an eye out for the goat eyes version.

I just remembered, too- have there been any updates on the Krampus creature pack they showed off a while back? I know these took forever to come out, but I'd assume the smaller creatures would be a bit easier to make. Hopefully Krampus and DK will sell well. Maybe they'll throw up the creature pack for pre-order around the holidays, so with any luck, we can get them by next Christmas. 😅

NECA is leaving us in the dark on a couple of things. This, the Beetlejuice accessory pack with the Ghoul Minister and altar, the Toony Home Alone figures...
 
Yeah, it's really weird how NECA has just not said anything about some of these releases. They very low-key way they release some product as well is equally baffling...with the Krampus line being a prime example of it. I've heard some got preorders for it last year, while others have been waiting forever (and I've never once seen Krampus OR Der Klowne in any stores). I just don't get it.
 
I wouldn't be surprised to see them just drop those aforementioned sets on their store one day, like what happened with the Beetlejuice sandworm and the Alien Romulus Big Chap crucifixion set.
 
They basically stopped doing PR for everything that isn’t TMNT. I wouldn’t be surprised if with a property like Krampus if they’ve been idling in a warehouse until the holiday season arrives. Though that doesn’t explain why preorders have been left unfulfilled unless they literally halted production because of the timing.

Also wouldn't explain the running change on the eyes. I don't know for sure, but I can't be the only one who's got them. If anything, they probably sold through their initial supply and started on a new batch. He's a figure I could see taking a while to actually produce- certainly longer than any of the iconic slashers or Universal Monsters.

But yeah, it does seem like they've just stopped pushing anything but the TMNT stuff. Granted, I know very little, if anything, about the TMNT line as a whole, but I feel like I've been seeing tons of NECA TMNT stuff on the shelves not selling. Mostly Last Ronin stuff, so maybe that's just not as popular; I know I'm just one small case, but the horror stuff seems to sell much better in my neck of the woods.

Always gotta wonder, like with movies or albums nowadays- maybe the reason certain things aren't doing well is because they're not being promoted as they should.

You sure yours isn't just a mistake? Cause yeah, every copy I've seen has the goat eyes. What's the code on the bottom of the box above the UPC end in?

I mean it's for sure selling. Last Ronin especially, as they're given a reason to keep releasing more and more. Some areas do sit on stuff, but as a whole it's the money maker.

Oh sweet, I'm not the only one!

Couldn't really find any pictures myself, but saw it in a bunch of videos. This one was the first that I noticed it- around 4:46 or so, you get a good shot of the eyes with the sideways pupils

 
Oh wow. Yeah mine are nothing like that. It may be lighting but it also seems that the earlier ones are a slightly brighter shade of red on the robe. Mine seems to be a bit more muted.

Just for the record, this is what I'm talking about. Original on the left, mine on the right (please forgive the godawful lighting). Neither are bad, per se, but the goat eyes on ol' Krampy definitely feels a bit more unique. Since the goat eyes do have that little bit of reddish orange on them, I could see mine just being a mistake where they forgot to add a layer or two, but the fact now that there are multiple has me wondering.

Hadn't realized it until you mentioned it either, Justice, but the robes on mine are a bit darker as well. Couldn't tell if it was just a lighting thing or not, but they do seem to be.
 
The red eyes don't look terrible, but the goat eyes are screen accurate, and one of the touches I love in the film. While I tend to be a Krampus purist, I still like the film despite all the liberties it takes with the lore (though I'm definitely in the minority on that count. Many Krampus players detest the movie for playing so fast and loose with the folklore). It's not really accurate to most traditional depictions of a Krampus, but there is no denying that the design for the film is really well done, and having those little details that show him as a truly otherworldly beast are fantastic. It's a shame that later runs of this figure are skipping such a small, yet really cool, aspect of that design.
