NECA - General Thread

And as some have noted, NECA will time some of their Target releases with these store wide events without technically being a participant. Walmart might also do something timed with NYCC, I can’t recall. They have yet to get in on the Sesame Street stuff, but maybe they’re asking for it?

It’s also just pure speculation on my part that Sesame Street is being held back for such events. Given the lighter showing all around by NECA at SDCC, I think it’s fair to assume that the current market conditions are slowing things down as well and I wouldn’t hold them to any release dates unless they announce it themselves on social media.

I LOVE the Metaluna Mutant. I'm going to boldly claim that he is my favorite Neca Universal monster figure. The torso articulation is fantastic and feels like real torso movement when it is moving.

Maybe it is just the beer goggles I'm wearing right now but he is awesome. Anybody else got him yet?
Gotta agree. I've never even seen the movie, so I have no prior bias toward him, but he's a really great figure. Something about him just pops. Really great sculpt, some fun, unique articulation, some colors we don't see often, especially in the horror world. Really an unexpected surprise for me.

Really looking forward to their Red Death Phantom too; I have a feeling that's gonna be another standout figure.

I am finding it quite funny that Jerry Macaluso is on the Syndicate Collectibles Collector Group asking folks if they believe that theirs or NECA's Howling figure is more accurate.

A little late for that, my dude. Yours is already out. And at almost 60 bucks a pop, I sure as hell am not going to spring for you to do a 2.0 version, if that's why you're asking.

I swear, no company has so quickly turned me around from super excited and fully on board, to so incredibly disappointed in everything they're doing as Syndicate. Came out of the gates out of nowhere, looking like a strong contender a few years back.

To now, cancelling half of the things they showed, final product VASTLY different than prototype, to now radio silence. Not sure what happened, but...they barely register for me at this point. Their fault.

I saw their Howling wolf in person a few weeks ago and it was not great. After seeing it I don't care if it is more accurate or not. It looks like shit next to the Neca one.

Accurate is hard to pin down for the Howling anyways. It looks so different in different lighting and different angles and I'm not even sure they didn't have different suits/puppets at different times in the first place. There's a whole rod puppet that went unused in the film that I really like. So I have no problem saying NECA's blows SC's out of the water.

Also, lack of follow-through and abandoning of projects is basically Macaluso's trademark at this point.

Syndicate caught my attention at a con a few years ago. They had some interesting licenses (True Romance and Futurama, among others). Years later, they showed the same prototypes without any progress. I can't take these companies seriously when they don't put product on the metaphorical shelf.

Oh, True Romance was cancelled. Yep.

Someone had to ask. They finally admitted that they were not happening. Otherwise, they weren't going to tell anyone.

Klownzilla, another one that's been cancelled.

They also cancelled the Ghoulies figures, then claimed fan complaints brought them back, but since then, nothing. Crickets. I'm guessing cancelled again.

Dragon's Lair, cancelled.

They showed an Ed Harley sculpt to accompany Pumpkinhead. You guessed it: cancelled.

The Bloodsport figures look like shit. Final products were shown at this last SDCC, but response to those was so bad, they apparently pulled them off of the floor on day two.

I genuinely could give less of a shit about anything they show going forward--until or if it's actually in my hands.

I agree...though I do have to say their Pumpkinhead was amazing. That is the exception that proves the rule for Syndicate though. Their Howling figure is really lackluster, and nowhere near NECA's quality, in my opinion.
