NECA - General Thread

Any thoughts on that anniversary Frankenstein two pack they announced today? I was just looking at how to fill out the very core of the horror classics (got Dracula, Wolf Man is easy enough to track down)... does it look better than the standard releases to anyone else, or would it be better to just track down the last versions of them?

As far as I know, they're the same as previously-released figures, though I THINK the Frankenstein himself (it's the version from Bride, not the first film) was only released in color along with the shackles/chair boxed set. That set had a couple more accessories that aren't in this 2-pack as well. Also looks like you don't get the bandage-wrapped head for Bride in this 2-pack.

If you're just looking to fill out the main Universal Monsters, and aren't picky about specific looks, then this two pack is a great way to go. The look for the monster is from The Bride, so it's not quite as "iconic" as the look from the original film, but it still is obviously Karloff as the monster, and only nerds like me will notice the difference. The figures both nail their likenesses from Bride of Frankenstein, and will look amazing on a shelf together.

I think my only strong opinion is I prefer them in color. Weirdly the two pack is cheaper than the standalone figures at retail. I really only need on e Karloff Monster but I’m not picky about which film look he has.

The 2 pack also has less accessories. It makes sense that it's cheaper.

I picked up Krampus and Der Klown yesterday at a little out of town toy shop in Jackson, TN that I go to sometimes. (There used to be a Fwoosh member who was in Jackson but I can't remember the handle, if you are here let me know!) Apparently Tuesdays they always do 15% off horror and I happened to be in there that day, unaware. Krampus is massive and heavy. I had them on preorder at Entertainment Earth forever but cancelled them because I lost interest in the figures since it was taking so long. Figured I would appreciate them much more when I do my annual Krampus rewatch this holiday season so I went ahead and got them.

Toss some pics up if you get a chance! I'm waiting to ship mine until the Metaluna Mutant hits my POL, but I'm getting in the spooky mood (who am I kidding? I'm always in the spooky mood), so I need to live vicariously through others in the meantime.

I will! Haven't actually opened them yet. I've been so busy with condensing my Marvel Legends shelves and then dusting while I'm at it.

Neca sent me mine last December. They're not the most "action" of action figures, but I love them. And you get to decorate Krampus like a Christmas tree.

Ugh, I still have Krampus and Der Clown on order with EE because of a big discount they were offering way back that summer when I ordered them. But now, given the tariff price increase and the fact that my invoice has them both listed as Backordered, I'm very much considering a cancellation and not sure if I'll try to get them elsewhere or not. The distribution on these seems to have been pretty chaotic.

That's me with the Mondo Spider-Man. For whatever reason, I think 90% of my EE orders end up with me cancelling them because they either don't get them or it just takes so long and I get sick of seeing the same thing in-stock at other retailers. I've only held onto Spidey because of the deal, which basically got cut in half by the tariff increase making it not much of a deal at this point.
