Marvel Legends Gamerverse

I think Hasbro shot themselves in the foot by packaging Venom/Jeff together. I think both characters would've sold better on their own.
 
Jeff did not need to be packed in with anyone else, he would've done fine by himself. Unless they were worried that Venom needed help, or were worried that Jeff wasn't as popular OUTSIDE of Rivals gamers. I'm not thrilled about it but I want a Jeff so I'm in, even though I am Venomed out. I just mentioned in the stream thread that a friend said they should've packaged Jeff with Squirrel Girl and that would have been HILARIOUS.
 
Personally I don't like the head on that Venom even if it is accurate to the game. Jeff in concept I've never liked and always thought was Deadpool stupidity-based, but everyone I know who has a daughter 7-10 yrs old says she loves Jeff, so maybe there's going to be a lot of Jeff's hanging from purses and bookbags this Fall.

In other news Labubu is finally passe`.

I tried it, "frenzied" is a good descriptor. I can't enjoy it and the characters who should be awesome suck to play as while characters less people care about are overpowered. Can't ever get close enough to use Wolverine. Spiderman is too awkward to play as and you'll be killed just trying to learn how to move as Spiderman should. Squirrel Girl and "Flying" Iron Fist were the bane of my short existence in that game. I had to play as Storm and hide out on the ceiling just to not be whacked immediately.
 
I tried playing Rivals with my nephew. Turns out he thought it was boring compared to Fortnite and I felt like I was having a cocaine/LSD cocktail forced into my eyeballs. We played twice and gave up.
 
I play Rivals casually with school acquaintances, but it's not something that makes me excited on my own.

That said, I'll give Hasbro their flowers here. Those sculpts are sharp, and they nailed the house aesthetic for the game. Love the paint and finishes. Love how over the top they went with accessories and really pushing proportion and angles on the characters like they did with Gamerverse. Breaking that Legends comfort zone to embrace the source.

Shit. That Moon Knight cape is so fun.

The MvC line, Spiderverse, now this. Even Overwatch and Fortnite back then. They really can compete with some of the Asian and third party stylistic efforts when they get off the leash.

It's cool.

For that, I will grab these to reward effort. Between this and the past years of MCU, as a primarily comic collector... I feel like comic Legends are stagnating and behind. Hopefully they get some of that juice, as the youth say. One day they'll just do a Weiringo Spidey or Adam Kubert Wolverine or Madureira Anybody, like Toy Biz used to.

Yeah these Rivals figures look fantastic! So much like the game. The sculpts are just outstanding. I play this game a lot with my daughters. It’s a lot of fun to play. So many ways to play the game from healers to damage dealers, close quarters or long range flyers.

Jeff the land shark is my daughters’ favorite character by far, so it’s awesome to see him get a figure. Venom has a cool design in the game, so that set is a must have for me!

My older daughter loves playing as Moon Knight, too. And that figure came out looking so nice! Really captures his aesthetic. The armor and cape are perfect. Looks like he will be one of the best figures of the year.

My main characters in the game are Iron Man (of course), Ultron (especially if there is already another Iron Man because then Ultron gets a new ability unlocked), and Punisher. I don’t even love Punisher as a character, but he’s a lot of fun to play as. His character design is a like a superhuman body builder, almost Hulk-like. The figure looks like a perfect representation. Cool that he gets two head sculpts, too. Punisher is another must-have.

Luna Snow also looks amazing. I haven’t really played with her in the game, but she has a great look and a fun backstory.

A good Spider-Man player is almost impossible to fight in the game. He has a huge learning curve, but can be amazing. The figure looks good.

So it sounds like I am in for all of them. Hope Hasbro makes Iron Man and Ultron next!
