General Marvel Legends

I need to read more comics. I started getting out of the habit when everything became a massive event and I couldn't find good jumping in points. I try to pick up short run self-contained indie stories mostly now, when I buy physical books, and I do have the Marvel Unlimited sub.

Although to my horror, in my ongoing "Christ, I think my career ruined my vision" journey, I was trying to read a TPB of Starstruck I picked up a few months back and Susan Lee / Dale Pace use a manic, frantic, beautifully detailed nine-plus per page panel style and holy shit guys, when you realize your eyes don't work enough to read a comic you start looking for a train to walk in front of.

A quick return to the subject of much-needed redos, I'm guessing nobody has brought up my boy Mole Man due to him being mentioned in one of the DMB rumors? Because that early Hasbro failure is one of the few left from the dark days that seriously requires rectification.
I mean, and I know I've said this before but, it was as if the Hasbro boys thought the name MOLE Man meant he was covered in goddamn moles.

Our F4 collections need a properly-engineered, well-sculpted, classic Mole Man posthaste. I really hope the rumor is true and he is indeed coming with a couple creepy moloids.

Definitely in for a new Mole Man! I don't dislike the old one, but he's dated and hard to get. My problem with the new one is going to be if they pack him with Moloids - I'm going to end up wanting a small crew and have a bunch of extra Harveys to flip. Would love if they sold them separately, but I won't hold my breath.

Re: comics, I'm just not a voracious enough reader to keep up. A few times a year I want to read/reread a classic run - original Avengers, or mid-80s X-Men/X-Factor and spinoffs, etc. That alone will pretty much occupy my reading time and doesn't leave time for much else - not to mention the expense of keeping up with new stuff. ML is my main avenue for keeping on top of modern Marvel goings-on. I like when they throw in modern characters/looks cause it inspires me to go read about them - pretty much anything that gets made I'll read at least a few issues featuring to see what the deal is, and usually find some stuff I like.

Yeah,
I was in my 20's when the 90's comics were new and I really did not like the evolution to the more "pin-up" style and the "lots of line work" busy-ness that seemed to take over, so I phased out of keeping up on things and never really came back.

The art from comics in the 60's to 80's was simpler in some ways - not always a good way as some art was too simple to be engaging, but the better artists often focused more on the storytelling than trying to be splashy/posing of characters. Its kind of hard to describe but it didn't appeal to me as much - the sort of Jim Lee/Todd McF brand of art - which while it looked great as pictures it had a different feel than what I liked. In addition, while the move to the more modern full color options is technically an improvement, I liked the more basic 4-color printing, which I think better matches the more traditional clean line work that I appreciate.
Yeah, even now I prefer an easier to read, minimalist art. Give me Paul Smith or Wes Craig any day.

I have progressive lenses, but didn't need them to read until just recently. I can still read comics on a tablet without them, but paper comics in a slightly darker room has become too hard just in the past few weeks. Might spring for reader glasses in the near future.

Alright, here's one for the hive-mind here. I've got enough Amazon credit I can grab myself a 2-pack. I could grab Lilandra/Wolverine (and give Deathbird her sister), I could grab Destiny/Rogue (and give Mystique her wife), or I could do Iron Man/Mandarin.

What would y'all do?

If you have Mystique, Blob, Pyro, Avalanche then I would go with Destiny. Lilandra if you have Imperial Guard members and Warlord Xavier.
Mystique is coming to me soon but I don't have any of the rest of Freedom Force (well, I've got Spiral but I've got her with Mojo). For the space folks all I've got is Deathbird and Gladiator.

My opinion on the question is biased by my taste in comics.

I think the suited Mandarin is a stupid and lazy cop out for the character and while the Iron Man figure is undobtedly better than the previous attempt at that armor... yawn its another Iron Man in a collection overflowing with Iron Man.

Destiny is a more important character - to me - than Lilandra so that 2-pack takes precedence. Also thats the only Destiny you can have. For Lilandra you can still make due with the head that came with Walgreens Mystique and Silver Sable, like many of us did for years.

That said I pre-ordered all 3 packs at full price, so...
