General Marvel Legends

I spent 75 bucks at the comic shop today.

Comics are my day one. I started reading them 61 years ago and I'll keep reading them until the day I die.

Hell yeah! I got pull lists at two diff stores, and regularly visit one that has 80 bins of $1 comics; twice a year they do a 50% sale

every year i give out comics at halloween

Fixed this for you.
but you fiend! You made it worse!

Marvel's not my first love, that will always be DC, but X-men are absolutely characters i don't really care about outside of their own shows or movies. So like....gotta have a fun look for me to buy their figure, and buying their comic is like...rare.

Day 2 of having the Punisher/Fury pack... and its actually a bit infuriating that we have the perfect Punisher body and head sculpt - paint it black/white, add the thigh holster they already have molds for and you've got the best Punisher release ever. Why are we waiting for this?

My ultimate 2-pack! FA Wonder Man and an updated Grim Reaper!

That 2 pack would be amazing! I’d love an ionic Wonder Man, too!

Doctor Druid needs to come with an alt zombie-fied head, or a corpse head - my only exposure to him "active" was in this issue and I distinctly remember this cover:

BTW - aren't most of these characters actually alive again at this point?
Swordsman and Wonder Man are the only two alive again that I’m aware of. But as pointed out, my knowledge may be painfully out of date.

My Re-Do must have list is shrinking tbh. Like theres ones I would get, but if we don't.... Meh.
Must haves?

*Nova Prime for sure.
*A Miles Morales comic version thats the right size but also articulated like the Comic wave one. And the a Spider-Boy on this Miles one.
*Coipel Thor
*Modern Hawkeye. with a BOW WITH A DRAWN ARROW ON IT! HOW ARE YOU STILL NOT DOING THIS HASBRO?? YOU HGAVE THE MOLD!
*Scarlet Spider (Kaine) on the Max body.
*Sensational Spider-Man (Ben) on the Max body. Because these three are ALL THE SAME GUY.HOW ARE YOU NOT DOING THIS HASBRO?

*cough*

Sorry about that.

Moving on:
*Captain Marvel (Carol) on a body thats not tiny like her Ms Marvel figure.
*Ms Marvel (Kamala) with a bunch of stretchy parts.
*Mr Fantastic with a bunch of stretched parts. In like... a few costumes.
*Silk on the body with the body like Pheonix's new one.
*In fact just all the Spider ladies on that body.
*NEO-Classic Iron Man with a helmet that looks like it could fit a human head in it. Metallic colors would be a nice bonus too
*Bleeding Edge Armor Iron Man
*The Wrecking Crew

thats most of the remakes I want off the top of my head.

Love this list! I’d also add some of the other redoes we’ve mentioned like

Yellowjacket
Annihilus
Crimson Dynamo
Titanium Man

It's also funny because it really does feel like a lot of folks (And old Fwoosh folks, which I know a lot of us are) stopped reading comics in the 80s or 90s and just don't like new stuff, which is always weird to me. I love comics, i dont imagine I'll ever stop :)
I love comics. I do them daily. I just don't like a lot of contemporary Marvel, especially post Krakoa fumble. They've been sketchy for me for a few years, which sucks because Marvel is my favourite of the big two. And I'm an X-Men fan more than I'm a Marvel fan, if that makes sense.

I'm enjoying Punisher, Venom, and Cap at the moment. I have... Thoughts on all 3, but my inner child just says Enjoy the Ride, and I am. Last few issues of Venom really made me feel like a kid.

Then I have a never ending deluge of Indies. There's just not enough time in the day and not enough money. So much cool stuff out there.

Most of my pull list is Marvel, I'm all-in on post-Krakoa X-Men (couldn't stand the Hickman era), and have been reading Fantastic Four, Avengers and Moon Knight non-stop for like 8 years straight. Ryan North's FF is my favorite book being published right now. I'm actually quite surprised at how much I'm enjoying Age Of Revelation, since I was loving From The Ashes and I've never given half a hoot about the Age Of Apocalypse stuff. It helps that I know it's temporary and that the creative teams I've been vibing with in From The Ashes are doing most of the A.O.R. books.

I have a hard time getting into DC, though I try constantly. Batman & Robin: Year One is a goddamn masterpiece, as is Absolute Martian Manhunter but I haven't been able to find much else that makes me need to read it monthly. The new Batman series has promise, I liked the first issue, hope it keeps me interested.

I'm absolutely in love with the majority of Ghost Machine books, other than Fantastic Four I'm most excited to read Rocketfellers and Redcoat every month, and Hyde Street and Rook: Exodus are amazing as well. I'm a big fan of James Stokoe's Orphan And The Five Beasts and the upcoming Die sequel has me very intrigued, as the original run is one of my favorite comics ever.

Right now is a very exciting time for comics, lots of great stuff on the shelves for every taste, it just takes a little bit of experimentation to find what will be your next favorite book.

Swordsman and Wonder Man are the only two alive again that I’m aware of. But as pointed out, my knowledge may be painfully out of date.
Actually, I believe that Thunderstrike, Swordsman, and Mar-Vell are the only ones that are still dead, or in some cases "dead again" since they've all come back, and died, since 1998.

That Waid/Samnee Batman & Robin: Year One book rocked.

Gotta make sure you buy the Gamerverse two-pack first.

Im reading a ton of Marvel. As well as every Spider related book, Im loving Captain Americas recent title (The Sam one before it wasnt great), The main 2 X books (Especially Gail Simones), Fantastic Four (Which every Marvel fan should read from the start of Norths run. Its SO good), Moon Knight (Ditto starting MK with Jed Mckays run), Avengers, New Avengers, the Cosmic stuff, dipping in and out of the Doc Strange stuff, the recent Scarlet Witch series....

I dont remember them all.

I read a heap of DC too, though Im a bit behind atm outside of the Superman, Justice League and WW books. Oh and the new Batman books been good so far.

I obviously have a preference for classic looks, but I actually embrace new looks and characters. I am down for Francine Electro, Spider-Boy and Hallow's Eve. What I HATE is the same look being revisited again and again and again any time some minor articulation change is made or the painting process improves slightly..

Figures with the old ugly ball shoulders or 20 year old articulation like Falcon or Doc Samson - sure, time for a remake. But I don't need them revisitng Silk again already or redoing every Spidey variant on the Unlimited body... that exhausts me.
I get that, and I shouldnt have assumed as I did. My bad.

I guess its a mild OCD thing. Max Spidey is my Spidey now. Therefore i want his clones to look like him. And the Ben Spidey suit is my favorite Spidey costume, so its always going to be one I'll fork out for.
As for characters like Silk; The Doc Ock pack one is SO insanely good... if she JUST had an Ab crunch Id be done. Like i never need another Black Widow or Pheonix. Im good, they have nothing I want improved on. But the Spider ladies are acrobats, so I want them to be able to MOVE like that.

There are modern comic bits I read here and there. Mainly I follow artists I consider to be good cartoonists. Modern comic artists are better draftsmen/women than ever but often worse cartoonists (well excluding the 90s) than ever. On the higher end there are still greats. David Aja, Javier Rodriquez, Chris Samnee. Will read anything they draw. I think there are good "modern additions" to the character canon. Kamala Khan, Harley Quinn, Kate Bishop. I want those characters. I don't want all those X-Men related characters with one syllable names though.
Have you tried Dan Mora? He's been one of my favorites the last few years.

For me it was money and frequency of issues coming out. Some books were every two weeks. I couldn't get them out of my pull file for months sometimes due to cost of comics today. I still read them but just wait until collected in a trade edition. Less space needed for collecting too. I will never not love comics. They way I collect them and read them has just evolved. Whenever a Legend gets made that looks cool but I may never have read always makes me hunt down trades to get to know the character better.

I was in my 20's when the 90's comics were new and I really did not like the evolution to the more "pin-up" style and the "lots of line work" busy-ness that seemed to take over, so I phased out of keeping up on things and never really came back.

The art from comics in the 60's to 80's was simpler in some ways - not always a good way as some art was too simple to be engaging, but the better artists often focused more on the storytelling than trying to be splashy/posing of characters. Its kind of hard to describe but it didn't appeal to me as much - the sort of Jim Lee/Todd McF brand of art - which while it looked great as pictures it had a different feel than what I liked. In addition, while the move to the more modern full color options is technically an improvement, I liked the more basic 4-color printing, which I think better matches the more traditional clean line work that I appreciate.
