It's also funny because it really does feel like a lot of folks (And old Fwoosh folks, which I know a lot of us are) stopped reading comics in the 80s or 90s and just don't like new stuff, which is always weird to me. I love comics, i dont imagine I'll ever stop
Old man yelling at clouds coming through.
See--I feel like a lot of the newer books lost me due to too many "Big Blockbuster, Earth-Shattering Events".
Just tell me a simple, good story, and you have me hooked for life. I don't need all the gimmicks. I don't need this character to die, or this character to come back, or all mutants to go away or whatever. Just a great read with no flourish, and I'm there. MAYBE a superstar artist whose art I really love (God, what I wouldn't give to see Jim Lee back on an X-Men book, even for just a short time).
That said, I still read, because I like and need the escape from life for even the short time. I always have read them since I could read, and I'll never stop. I may take breaks here and there, but just like my video game playing, I always come back with full enthusiasm eventually. Lame big blockbusters and all.
After all, why we are here, right? They all serve each other--the media breeds the love for the subject, and encourages our desire to own stuff of the thing we love. Very symbiotic relationship.
