U.S. Politics

I've quit drinking quite a few times.
As the son of an Irish Mom I find the idea of quitting drinking culturally inappropriate.... :ROFLMAO:

In all seriousness though I have found as I have gotten older I just seem to be drinking less and less. Not out of some personal stance, but it just isn't coming up as much as it used to in my personal life. I had a doctor's appointment the other day and when asked about my drinking I had to think about the last time I had a drink and it was probably 2024.

I really hope we can find all these thugs and arrest them for excessive force if & when the Democrats retake the government.

I think the paperwork is going to be, at best, messy for a lot of these takedowns. I wouldn't be surprised if at the end of the day there is little traceable paperwork to specific individuals.

However the good thing is these guys want to get paid and that paperwork can't be hidden or obfuscated. So if the time comes it will be easy to track down who got into ICE in the Trump days and work backwards from there to get locations and possible operational activities. Then it is all about applying pressure to get confessions about what they did, and seemingly most of the new recruits will be dumb enough to cough up evidence all on their own like a lot of criminals.

Honestly, same here. I was a massive day drinker during the lockdown (and I wrote two novels, but second drafts were completely sober!), and that kinda... I dunno.... didn't burn me out on it, but I realized I needed to cut that out. And yeah, that last couple years I've slowed down a lot on drinking, BUT.... when the occasion arises, I still tend to go at it like the oul days. I think the last time was a couple weekends ago at my dad's house, I had several pints with him. And that was maybe a month or month and a half after having too many at my brother-in-law's. And before that, I wanna say it had been months and months. I actually didn't have a drop after New Years until we went to Ireland last April, so four months, and I actually didn't drink nearly as much there as I wanted to. So when I go for it, I still go for it, but it's just not that often.

Dayum! That's pretty good! I bet your a cheap date now too!

My dad was a drunk. For the longest time, I never touched the stuff. Now I'll have a few glasses of wine per year, but I still try to avoid it. I hate being inebriated. I'm too much of a control freak to willingly give up my mental or physical faculties.
Hell, obsequious ghoul Mike Johnson tried that on a hot mic the other day.
For those who missed it:

Remember when lying had consequences? The Speaker of the House didn't see the President of the United States and the Secretary of War (lol) threatening to invade blue cities? Come on.

I would think, as a Christian, he'd have some moral opposition to lying. Instead, he goes up in front of a camera and lies 50 times a day.
If they have ANY sense, they won't let that happen.
Hey, don't say the scary part out loud. I was having a perfectly good day.

On the subject of ICE, I agree with this post:

How long are people going to live under occupation? ICE agents are casually tossing tear gas out of car windows a block from an elementary school.

I remember when government officials tiptoed around their beliefs and we debated just how crazy they really were. Now they just put it all out there.
World is definitely shifting.

Also had two separate personal weird instances this week involving macho loudmouths who let their alligator mouth write checks their hummingbird butts couldn't cash.

Everything just feels strung out and hostile in the air.

We agreed to mass deportation, crashing the economy, and ending America's 80-year reign as global superpower so we could call women fat bitches and use the r-word again. It's all good because we did it on purpose.

I'm gonna be honest and say I can't tell if sarcasm, but it's not on you at all, because in some sectors of video games and comics, I have met nerds and read rhetoric that is exactly this because Woke ruined everything, and I'm on the planet where What the Fuck.

Yeah, I’ve definitely had confrontations with MAGA-macho jackasses this week who are very emboldened to say all kinds of ridiculous aggressive shit.
My favorite was this dude who literally conceded defeat in an argument but was like “but you won’t come to Texas where I actually am so your victory is fake” and I was like “oh well come on out to California I’m fine with you engaging in FAFO guy” and then he went all implied-military so I just chuckled at him and said “you are not a threat”. And he LOST HIS SHIT. Hilarious. He basically begged me to take him seriously as a combat opponent and I was like “nah, you are transparently lacking in courage and compensating for same with hilarious fake bravado and I can smell your fear from here” and he had a really hard time with that.
Guy had a profile picture with himself in a Halo helmet holding some automatic rifle.
🤣🤣🤣🤣

Best part: he looked at my profile picture (which is of me playing Joseph Pulitzer in Newsies) and called me “temu Dracula”, and honestly I was really fucking flattered.
🧛🏻‍♂️
