U.S. Politics

Was there a single person in the forced audience who stood up to him?
I saw a video recently with a former US general talking about this meeting. He mentioned that one of the things that the general populace doesn't understand is that at the General rank and above it is a much more political position than lower ranks and enlisted personnel. He talked about how getting to those upper echelons requires them to be much more political in nature than "military."

So he was not going to be surprised that nothing would come of the meeting in regards to anyone standing up to them, especially publicly.
More than likely the US citizenry is going to have to come to the quick realization that the military will not be on their side except in the most dire of situations and so far the regime has done of good job of slow rolling things to keep it just below the threshold of a full blown extreme action. So by the time that extreme action comes it will be more acceptable to enough people to stay on the sidelines.

I want Nuremberg for them, too, but the way this country is going I suspect it's more likely that, a la Wounded Knee, a future generation of fascist bastards 80 years from now will be granting medals of honor to ICE agents who tore their ACL chasing a sandwich throwing hooligan in a pink polo instead.

Cause/effect, fuck around/find out…

"We untie the hands of our warfighters to intimidate, demoralize, hunt, and kill the enemies of our country." aka the citizens of our country. Still hoping for a Nuremberg style ending for these fuckers, at the very least...
My mind immediately goes towards the military being used on US citizens, and us taking up an ongoing occupying role in Gaza. Those seem the most likely places for the ditching of ROE to be "beneficial". That is to say, where the admin would want to be doing the most war crimes.

Just gotta say that every time Hegseth tries to be “tough”, he looks like fucking Francis from Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure.
“warfighter”?
Holy shit, what an impotent little pussy.

I just watched John Oliver's episode about Netanyahu last night, so yeah.... I'm an expert now, but the whole thing with the Israeli finance minister calling what they're doing now 'the demolition phase', and making it clear that, yeah, America will be involved in the real estate deals once they move on to the next phase.

Democrats are derided as a corporate party, but at least there's an inherent stability with that. Republicans are pushing for a return to indentured servitude.

I think the essence of what he's saying is correct. It's either revolution or tyranny. I like to believe that the revolution can be a softer one that doesn't end with blood in the streets. We'll see.

Musk, Thiel, Andreessen, Ellison, and their puppets might rue the day they threw their weight behind Donald Trump. They were already living like kings. The Obama-era world order was good for most people. Capitalism, for all its faults, ensured that most people were fed and housed. Most people had good lives. A Hillary Clinton presidency would've maintained the status quo. Donald Trump upended it. He realigned the party bases. He ended the rule of law. The left, a small niche in the Democratic Party, turned into the party's engine. They reawakened the labor movement. Working-class people got a real taste of prosperity under Biden. The next Democratic president is going to be left of Bernie Sanders. They would've been better off with Hillary Clinton.

They pushed too hard, too fast. Will the new Republican base show up when Trump isn't on the ticket? Their court majority, generations in the making, could go down with the ship. They should've backed Clinton and silently controlled things from the sidelines, as they had for decades.
This fucking guy. I have to enjoy the small comfort that, unless they literally turn him into a vampire, I'll probably outlive Trump. But this guy is basically my age and he's going to be making me miserable for decades more.

I don't see it. Like the main characters in Trump 1.0, he'll fade from the public eye or go to prison. If we elect the right guy, they'll send him to the Hague.
Was there a single person in the forced audience who stood up to him?
Any general in the audience could've led a coup right then and there. A stiff breeze could end the Trump administration.
Now now. Pussies have warmth and depth and Hegseth is known for neither.
Indeed. Let's refrain from gendered insults.

Ahhh but “pussy” in this context is short for “pusillanimous”.
🤭
(we are taking the word back, “the boys” have been misusing it as a gendered insult for way too long when it’s actually about *their* courage, not women’s bodies at all)
