My dad lost his job because of Trump this past week. You've got my sympathy, man. (My poor dad--blacklisted from his profession for trying to stop sexual harassment of his employees in his 50s, spends almost eight years freelancing and trading penny stocks to get by, gets a good job with the government working for the good guys over at the CFPD investigating bad guys, realizes he's going to need to work til almost 80 to make up for all the money he lost while blacklisted... sent home and told he can't collect severance because he's over retirement age at 72. This country sucks in general and fuckin sucks right now.)

I've always been very afraid of those end of time Christians that see Revelations as not just ultimately a positive thing, but something they should bring about toot suite. In which case they'd support an Antichrist not because they actually like and support him, but because they think he'll hasten Jesus' return. More nukes? No problem! Pandemics, natural disasters, global conflicts? Keep em coming! Signs and wonders! Let's speed up climate change, it means infinite Christmas will come early.

At a certain point - what's the difference between them and actual supporters of the Antichrist? A lack of authenticity? A different set of motivations? In their own eschatology, does Jesus see a difference? Will their meta-ness save them? Do they really think their means will be justified in the end? Will they get slam dunked into a lake of sulfur?

Or are they just greedy grifters that don't believe a lick of any of it, but know it's a part of the base that they need to manipulate?
