U.S. Politics

well I'm sorry but that would be karma if she is too dumb to realize how cruel the MAGA cult is
Just typical human behaviour. "It is not me that is the problem, it is someone else." She committed crimes when she was younger, and yes she turned her life around, but guess what? Doesn't matter to the Trump regime. You are a criminal.

Some of the utter bullshit coming out of their mouths in the interview are just too precious. The husband blames Biden for open borders. The woman's mother thinks it is criminals that will be deported, but of course her daughter isn't a criminal even though she committed crimes. Then the whole lot of them think that because she is Christian Iranian she can't be deported because she would be persecuted in Iran. The article gives an example of Christian Iranians being deported to Panama so she will be gone. Not too mention the Trump regime has no problem deporting people to countries they have no connection to in any fashion.

Just nothing but a bunch of MAGA cult members who think they are special and that somehow being part of MAGA will protect them and everything will be all right in the end. Oh and Biden was the problem........

You guys are probably better off with the whole family getting deported if this is the kind of bullshit they believe and peddle.

Reminds me of one of the first time I went out to get groceries during covid. I'm sure you all remember how many empty shelves etc there were at that point. Two old guys behind me were bitching about 'this is how it will be if Biden wins'.

Like, this is how it is NOW, you morons. Who is President NOW with these conditions?

How I've managed to go all these years without unloading on one of these fucking goofs in public amazes me.

Same here. I just... I mean, if they can't look at shelves during that administration and connect those dots, what hope is there?!?!

They don't even need that much justification. Most of the men they deported to the El Salvador slave camp were innocent. The real question is, are you brown? It's ethnic cleansing.

I do think it's worth saying these things out loud. Will you get through to them? No. But you might be the pebble that starts the landslide.

FEMA is essentially defunct
I think his only job is to deny funds.

oh this guy needs to be put in jail for contempt immediately!

Not US politics directly, but it's BECAUSE of US politics so...

Alberta, the most America part of Canada, has officially instituted school book bans, largely copying the vague, useless, problematic legislation used for the same in the US. So now like a couple of random white Christian dudes get to decide what is 'explicit' with virtually no oversight process. They've been REALLY quick to point out that the Bible gets to stay, and the ONLY books so far on the ban list are, you guessed it, LGBTQ books. What a shocker.

at the end of the day, almost all religions are saying "don't be a dick," and yet in almost every case, humans weaponize the organization of a religion to be absolute dickheads to other people. It's such a strange aspect of humanity, this desire to believe in something and then completely reject the things that tell you not to be a piece of filth. I think we're all very aware that modern Christians would stick Jesus in a hole in Venezuela and let him die of dysentery if he got in front of a podium and quoted himself.

I did the same thing when I was younger. I made an earnest attempt to learn about various religions and attended services at numerous places of worship. I tried various forms of Christianity - episcopalian, baptist, methodist, catholic - but also went to Hebrew Temple and Buddhist Temple and mosque as well. And my conclusion was the same...at the core of every one of these is the tenet to be good and treat others well. But the dissonance between what they taught and how so many of the followers behave is crazy. Ultimately I couldn't bring myself to belong to any of them because many of them also suggest their specific brand of "being good" is the only right one.

They’ll make bad deals as a result in the hope that someone rational will take over, but that’s a pretty big gamble to take.
I'm guessing, as I did in 2020, that any Democrat can and will win in 2028. That said, you're right. Within one election of electing the stupidest, least qualified president in history, we did it again.

I don't really know what choice other countries have. They have to hope the U.S. learned its lesson this time. (Even if we do, it probably won't lead to Democratic supermajorities.)

I think some people just gotta get hip to the idea that we may simply be looking at the evidence that the United States is a failed project, is coming apart at the seams, and really cannot be put back together.
