U.S. Politics

On a non-Trump note; I am absolutely furious. CNN has a big article right now going SO hard on humanizing the assassin that shot those Democrat politicians the other day. He was such a good guy, wouldn't hurt a fly, how could this happen. The whole article is trying so hard to paint him as not a Trump supporter - just a disgruntled guy with no REAL party affiliation.
Oh, and he took regular trips to Africa to criticize Americans for allowing people to be LGBTQ, and saying we're all sick. And he had an abortion rights hit list in his car. But you know.. what a sweet and loving guy.

It's fucking gross. He's a terrorist. ANOTHER Christian fundamentalist right-wing terrorist. Call it what it is.

Insert the required “if he weren’t a white Christian man they’d find every little mistake he’s ever made” part of the coverage, as usual.

Dude is going to be a hero to some people before this is over.

I am hoping that one day the US has an administration that is unafraid to hold Israel accountable.
I'm hoping one day we stop supporting the existence of Israel altogether. People fucking balk and pearl clutch at the idea of reparations for black Americans, but have no problem with us sending trillions of dollars to a foreign country to literally prop up its entire existence. AND we pay for their free healthcare, for the record. Something we're not allowed to have because that's communism or devil worship or something.

let's also not forget he is the one who scrapped the deal Iran was making under the Obama administration because of his outsized ego

Didn't matter before and probably doesn't now. MAGA will follow along to the end with Dump.

As for Iran, I think this might be the end for the regime. Unless Israel and Trump decide to back down I don't see the regime lasting. Which is a good thing, but the way they are going about it means it could be a much worse situation for the Iranian people after. With a huge amount of luck it could result in Iran being a more western friendly government in the future (no thanks to Trump and Netanyahu).

So I know they often bring in specialized professions at a higher rank in the military when there's a desperate need (specifically doctors and JAG lawyers, etc.) but seeing them swear in four tech executives as lt. colonels feels so ethically bankrupt... especially when they're all from companies that are getting rich off spying on US citizens. Just handing their executives military ranks when we need to keep their hands out of our pockets already is... well it's the most dystopian thing I've read about TODAY, at least.

It's a horrible practice and precedent. I don't see how those tech bros add anything to the military, they're only out for themselves and their portfolios.

Trump/MAGA should be dead set against further escalation with Iran or getting involved in any way, but if Trump takes us down that road I don't think they'll abandon him. We've seen too many examples of people losing their jobs, homes, livelihood because of Trump and they still spout that same, tired, sad, line of "I wouldn't change anything." They're more likely to call for Trump to nuke Iran than urge him to avoid war.

Ohh I’m hearing MAGA, libertarians, all kinds of shitty rightoids saying regime change in Iran needs to happen (and, to be fair, it does, although it’s not our job and CERTAINLY not Israel’s to make it so), as long as the new regime “is not Islamist”.

Uhhh what do they thing is going to happen here? That while they are dragging their own country into a ridiculous fanatical religious dictatorship, they can somehow spontaneously generate a secular (or I guess Christian, cuz some of these rightoids are truly nuts) regime in Iran?? HAHAHAHAHA pull the other one. It’s all just the same shitty Islamophobic game.

It feels like they're either using it to backdoor their clearance to information they shouldn't have... or just letting these bros pad their LinkedIn resume. Either ay it's gross.

And yeah, the MAGA crowd just does as their told. He could announce open borders tomorrow and and that ICE agents only give out ice cream and they'd flip on a dime.

I dunno, some maga are rabidly against foreign wars and may break with him there. They only want civil wars.

"The MAGA movement usually displays remarkable unity in attacking the left. But Israel’s military assault on Iran has splintered President Donald Trump’s coalition, as rival factions fight over the true meaning of an “America First” foreign policy."
