Let's be clear, though; IF we come out of this, and IF that includes competent, serious leadership: We know who is employed by the government. We, the public, might not currently know their names. But their names are on record with their agencies. IF those IFs come to pass, we can still absolutely hang them all publicly for the traitorous pieces of garbage they are.
 
Zero. We're the asshole country equivalent of too big to fail. They don't even want us as refugees if a real war breaks out, though they may be swayed to take some of the worst off amongst us. There's not a chance in hell any other country intervenes militarily unless it's Russia or China and only then if they think they can take over.
 
I know people would argue that damage has been done. The question is how reparable is it.

We already have microcosms in minority communities where hateful people come tail between their legs and people welcome them to reform them as soon as they hit the losing side. "We can fix them."

All it is is a free pass. They sting again the next chance they get. I've seen this discussion come up recently because within these communities they are trying to just draw the line Damien is discussing where it needs to stop and people just need to be shamed and punished, if not executed. They cannot keep getting a free pass.

We need to bring shame back. We need to name names. And we need to keep everyone accountable.

But as Damien (to me, rightly) says, there's too many pussies out there.

Even if someone shot a key politician tonight. Do I suddenly want to have dinner with my family. Probably not, the genie's out of the bottle.

I don't know. I'm just anxiety yapping. It sucks cuz I want to keep up with the news because things change by the hour lately, but I also want to enjoy my life. Given we are a toy forum, I'm sure that's where we're all at. And yet.

I'm in the same place, just anxiety yapping at a few people in person today. And texting. But we definitely need it.

We're not going to recover from this because we have a LOT of 'kinda right-winger' types that'll immediately pop in here and be like 'wait a second, you guys are advocating VIOLENCE? You're just as bad as the people you hate' and all that other absolute horseshit. THAT attitude, and us allowing people to pretend to be on our side while espousing it, will always cripple our ability to grow. Because it means we have to just continue, forever, having a society full of racists and fascists. Because, for some reason no one can explain to me, we're "required" to forgive them and not advocate for violence against them or we're "just as bad." Somehow.

Yeah they have to get paid so names and addresses are easily traceable for a future administration that wants to hold people accountable.

Plus I'm sure there will be no shortage of people willing to turn on each other to try and save their skins.
 
Speaking of pathetic strong man tactics, just to be bullies, they sent twenty guys to re-arrest the sandwich guy. The White House shared a masturbatory video of the arrest. Imagine thinking you're a tough guy and you need twenty armed and armored guys two go get someone who threw his lunch at your bulletproof vest. Like seriously. The kind of tough guy bullshit pulled off by men ashamed of having innie dicks.

My specific activist circles, people love to talk about masks off/asses being shown, but rather than kick those asses, they really just want those asses to be covered or aimed away, so they can go back to waiting for the new Metroid or bitch about James Gunn movie plans, etc. It's more "I can't believe they want minority erasure and building camps and to replace us with 80 hour work week AI when NYCC could have a new Hasbro tease."

It becomes a virtue signal, for lack of a better term.

It gets better. The guy had already turned himself in and a judge released him. Then the DC police got a new search warrant to stage their little raid. And, of course, after this show of force another judge released him and called the charge "excessive." The performative fascism on display would strike Paul Verhoeven as too much for satire.

You can tell by the dude's body language during the arrest he knows it's performative, too. He's not even scared, he's just like, you gotta be kidding me. But if we don't start holding people accountable for abusing their power they'll keep wanking off like this forever til they get their way.
