I agree with Gill. They will absolutely buy it because they -want- to believe it. And that's all that really matters to these people. It's why they believe literally everything in life that they believe. They just want to.

What Trump's entire base is looking for right now is an -excuse- to believe him. An excuse to let this all go and blame it all on Democrats. They WANT a doctored list that only names top Democrats. These people will believe AOC was on Epstein's island if Trump hand-writes it on a list himself. Anything to give them an excuse to be loyal to him.
All Maxwell has to do is come out and say 'I never saw Trump do anything illegal in all my dealings with him' and he walks away from this clean forever, REGARDLESS of any and all other evidence.

But... Maxwell would be a fucking idiot to do that because the second she says publicly that Trump is innocent, she's gotta die. The fact that she's lying and can reveal that she was coerced to lie on his behalf is far too dangerous a piece of information to allow her to live with. She'll mysteriously kill herself in prison just like Epstein.

I don't know if that particular post is real, but this has become a talking point for the right online. People have picked it up and run with it. We live in hell.
 
Pretty sure that's fake, but also yes - modern Republicans have come out many times in favor of child marriage. Specifically, very specifically, young girls to grown men.
 
On the other hand, it would be perfectly on-brand for arch-conservative wack-jobs to use Romeo and Juliet as a model for a good relationship.

Also the other two examples are quite rape-y if one isn’t in the particular sect perpetuating said mythology, but we aren’t ready for that conversation yet.
 
As a young child who never went to church formally, but did have a lot of Catholic friends and also read a TON of vampire books, I had Big Questions about religious stuff. I remember when someone finally explained to me, in detail, about how “Mary” got pregnant. This person tried to do it in that “kind adult explaining difficult subjects” way, but my immediate response was complete revulsion. “It was, like, a ghost? And it didn’t even ask? And she was a little kid??? OH no wonder all those church pictures are either totally bloody or else totally sanitized! These guys are CRAZY!”

Even as a young child I knew what rape was and that it was wrong. Something that, clearly, a huge percentage of adults are still struggling with.
