Tracking toy tariffs

So, I know you have zero respect for Brian, but honestly that would shock me. I'm pretty sure Brian lives in the Bay Area of California and just from his overall vibe, I think there is no way he leans that way.

I could be wrong, but it would surprise me.
Based on the above comments, my guess is that he's not and I was just getting the 'general dickhead' vibe confused with 'also a Trump supporter.' And, to be fair, I wasn't thinking he was MAGA. More like one of those Libertarian dumbasses that thinks voting Republican is good for the economy or whatever.

Brian may not know shit about making action figures that have more than 5 POA but I think from everything I've seen from him personally over the years that he is a good guy.
I can accept that.

I mean, your believing that. I don't believe that. I think Brian is a liar and liars, by default, are not 'good people.' But we can absolutely agree to disagree there and not spiral on that topic. I have no problem, with that in mind, accepting at face value that my speculation about who he'd vote for was off-base. In fact, glad to hear it.

As I understood it, it was a 90 day pause on all tariffs followed by 30% after. Am I misunderstanding?
The 90 days is tariffs being lowered to 30% from the 145% they were at. Nothing is set in stone for when the 90 days is up. It's a stall, nothing more. An easing while negotiations are ongoing.

If it were going to be 30% after the 90 days, there's no point in a pause as that would mean we'd reached a trade deal and it would start immediately. We have not reached that deal yet. So at the end of the Summer, if nothing has changed, we could go right back to where we were on Friday (this is why, despite stock markets, companies are still seeing massive uncertainty)

Also, I don't believe the 90 day period starts until Wednesday, but I haven't read any more about that since this morning.

Not knowing anything about the people behind the scenes is one of my toy collector shortcomings but if Kyle worked on MMPR Goldar or movie He- Man and Skeletor (my only Super 7 figures) he did a good job.
My concerns for any toy companies not Hasbro or Mattel continues.

His big announcement is not tariff related. He's 'ordering' big pharma that they have to reduce their prices in the US via another EO.
Coming back to this because, hilariously, turns out the plan to lower drug prices in the US is to force European countries to stop negotiating better prices with pharmaceutical companies for their own citizens. So, I swear to fuck, Dipshit Donnie's idea is that if he can force Europeans to pay more for their medicines, then big pharma will lower the prices in the US.

I mean... you can't make this shit up. Nor could you, with infinite time and infinite resources, literally manufacture a better dupe to buy into it than the existing Trump voters. Insanity.

Color me extremely skeptical of any White House deal. I can count on one hand the number of good things Trump's done for me in five years. The number of bad things are basically infinite. I'm going to assume this unnecessary trade war falls in column B until proven otherwise.
Those links aren't working for me fyi! This guy, yeah? https://bsky.app/profile/danlarson.bsky.social
Correct. Sorry, I think sharing's disabled because of Dan's profile settings. You'll have to be logged in to see these, but here are direct links if you're interested (1, 2, 3, 4).

I don't understand how a ship stacked that high makes it through the first instance of rough seas it encounters without dumping off a few containers into the ocean. I know that happens but I don't know how we don't hear of it more often.
I know! That was my first thought when I saw that image. I was in the Navy for six years, and I can't even imagine being on a boat like that in the South China Sea during a typhoon. You could encounter 100 mile an hour winds and waves as high as 50 feet. No thank you.

I wonder how many of those shipping containers are at the bottom of the ocean?
I was reading somewhere that yes lots of containers get lost at sea. Plus the problem is just that like the picture. Companies stacking so high just to save money on loads.
I imagine in the future there will be treasure hunters looking for them.
It’ll also still have the effect of other countries not trusting the US, so partnering more closely with China and other countries for trade and with other areas.

Also, US companies will likely be still conservative with investments in terms of hiring and expansion because they don’t know what Trump is going to do.

And, of course, even if the tariffs are basically lifted tomorrow or whatever, there will likely be some shortages and price increases in the summer regardless.
Right! Percentages no longer matter, the damage has been done. He did this his last term too! Other countries no longer trust the U.S. to keep their word.
Until he is gone there will be no stability. It is just a roller coaster ride.

His big announcement is not tariff related. He's 'ordering' big pharma that they have to reduce their prices in the US via another EO.
and this won't help either when they've gutted Medicaid/Medicare/ACA

It's pretty much all geared towards finding as much money for the billionaires, broligarchs, large tech companies, etc. etc. At any and all expense, pretty much meaning everyone not included in that group.

Oh and of course as much money as possible for Donald himself.

Trump himself has now asked Congress to exclude the highest earners from the renewal of the 2017 tax break bill. About a month ago Steve Bannon was on Bill Maher's show and said he was going to do this, and now it looks like he has. We'll see if Congress plays along or if this is all just a show for the cameras.

A month ago I agreed with you wholeheartedly, but now I'm not at all sure.
