Tracking toy tariffs

And I will freely admit that I have an optimistic, idealistic viewpoint, where I think most people appreciate the rule of law and will hold those who refuse to uphold it in check.

And this may be where I have a hard time reconciling that no one is coming to save us. I get glimmers of hope. But then nothing ever fucking happens.

And I don't want to be made cynical. Not about this. I'm already cynical enough about life. The last thing I had was the idea of America being what was sold to us as. Hell, you're talking to the guy who cried at Granary Cemetary in Boston standing at the gravestone of our forefathers like Paul Revere.

Every single day, our politicians, fellow Americans, this fucking administration, shake my faith in that dream. That romanticized American dream.

Although it has inspired me in one aspect: I've begun the process of going back to get an associate's degree to be a paralegal specializing in political law--at the ripe ol' age of 43.

I like to remind my clients that no matter how annoying a traffic rule (or other major societal “safety” rule) might be, those rules are written in blood. By which I mean: each of those important rules was created as reaction to some string of deaths and/or catastrophes that necessitated it.
For a lot of folks, these rules of society have existed so long that that blood has been washed away, and people only recognize the “inconvenience” of following the rule, not the danger and death that precipitated the rule, and that is a HUGE problem.
And the (not quite) flip side to that is how far down the "lowest common denominator" is for so many things in life because of people either being too stupid, or selfish, to not have to have everything spelled out in detail. I mean think about how many products and services have so much legalese and absolutely, mind numbingly dumb instructions because ones and twos of people can't handle the simplest things.

Don't swallow bleach, don't touch fire, stay out of a wild animal's enclosure. Directions on how to use soap, put clothing on in certain ways, etc. etc. Even from your example I think we give too much credit to the better/smarter nature of our fellow humans.

I have no doubt there are people in the military, just like in the regime, who are more than happy to do what Trump wants and harm/kill Americans in the name of.........whatever.
