Tracking toy tariffs

and economy is worse because of tariffs

Supreme Court set arguments for first week of November.
I don’t really understand why they and congress have ‘sessions’ anymore. The rest of us work every week, we don’t get months off at a time, neither should they. The president doesn’t take off for months like that either so it doesn’t seem unreasonable to expect them to work just like the rest of us.

In theory Congress takes off to go back to their districts. The Supreme Court I don't get.

And those job adjustments are from last yearish which Trump claims show how bad Biden was. Of course this report came after he replaces the head of the bureau of labor and statistics so... not sure. Regardless, finding a job now in 2025 is impossible.

I live about an hour from here. Pass by it all the time when traveling. This complex of facilities was opened with literally billions in tax breaks from the state, in an area that could certainly use the jobs. It's a truly baffling thing they've done by derailing this project.

And don't forget, it was literally the doing of one bitchy white lady that called it in and demanded ICE show up.

Reminds me of all the Foxconn hype for Racine, Wisconsin.

Fortunately it's not quite the same situation. These facilities have been being built for 3+ years, and some of them are already up and running. The battery plant was set to open in the next 6 months (I believe). So the project is very real, and significant to the local economy. Not to say it's worth $2 billion in tax breaks, but it's more than vaporware.

Tossing out all the EV incentives has already threatened some of the future plans they had for expanding these sites, plus the tariff impacts on the supply chains feeding these factories. If our governor had any integrity he'd be calling the administration out for this nonstop.

Good news DHL is back on HLJ. I tested the cart by adding a Mafex.

DHL 5300 jpy = $35.89
Duties 2640 jpy = $17.88
Carrier fee 3300 jpy = $22.35
Total $76.10

Please, someone tell me this is wrong.

Omg, let me delete that before HLJ starts sending me "you left something in your cart" emails

Well.
I had somewhat recently ordered a bespoke garment on Etsy (something I normally would do somewhat regularly), and it just shipped from Dubai via UPS and ohhh suddenly the UPS app presented me with an almost $30 bill in previously-undisclosed tariff/import fees.
Fuck.

WTF is a carrier fee? What do they think shipping costs are? That should be the end of ‘carrier’ fees. Sucks that on top of everything already they want to gouge even further. Enjoy not having any business!
