Toy Fair International - February 14-17 2026

It's supposed to be 46 degrees and partly cloudy in New York this Saturday. It looks like Toy Fair attendees have lucked out. No polar vortex for them this year.

I still to this day have no idea why Toy Fair is held on the eastern seaboard in February. If you must have it in February, wouldn't a warm weather city like Miami, Las Vegas, San Diego or Phoenix make more sense?
Probably the same reason so many geeky events happen in Vegas every summer. I bet it's way cheaper to rent out huge amounts of space during the extreme weather months for those areas.

But bear in mind that Toy Fair is not a fan event, it's an industry trade show. It'll be mostly industry big wigs and members of the press.

I just googled "why is toy fair held in New York" and this is what came up:

Toy Fair is held in New York City because of its historical roots as the central hub for the American toy industry, dating back to 1903, and its continued status as a premier global marketplace. The city serves as a key location for connecting international manufacturers, buyers, and media, particularly at the Javits Center, which hosts the event to showcase thousands of new products and trends.

Well, okay. Fair enough. But why February? Why not April or May?

I guess the world will never know.
