If you just said this sentence to me out of context having not played a Zelda game to completion since Ocarina I would have known it was probably a Zelda plot, or at a minimum, an anime story description.

I think a big thing that I want people to realize when wishlisting classic Zelda stuff they want is Nintendo's seeming refusal to approve anything that doesn't have an official 3D model.

Jakks has never been able to do anything that's purely classic (like a cape or frog suit Mario) because there's no 3D model for them to base it on. Stuff like Tanooki or Raccoon Mario only happen because those power ups have gotten used in modern 3D games. It'd require Nintendo to allow a toy company some degree of artistic license with their characters which, unless you're Lego, I haven't seen them do.

I do not believe that is a fully enforced rule for anything but Mario, as we've gotten Link from A Link Between Worlds as a Figma, and OG Link as a small figurine. There may be some exceptions. I do fully expect this to predominantly feature 3D games, though.
