Gail Simone
Gail Simone (born July 29, 1974) is a writer best known for her work in comics, particularly on DC's Birds of Prey, Batgirl, Dynamite Entertainment's Red Sonja, and for being the longest-running female writer on Wonder Woman to date. Other notable works include Clean Room, Secret Six, Welcome to Tranquility, The All-New Atom, and Deadpool.
She enjoyed a long-running stint on The Simpsons comics and has also written for television and video games. In 2024, Orbit Books published her debut novel Red Sonja: Consumed.
Her work has won Eisner and Harvey Awards. She was nominated for the GLAAD Media Award in 2006 for Secret Six. She is also the recipient of an Inkpot Award at the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con. She was inducted in the Women Cartoonist Hall of Fame in 2009.
We almost got a Marvel Legends figure of Outlaw, a Gail Simone creation. A few years ago, Dwight pitched a Western Heroes Boxed Set to Ryan and Dan that would have included the Two-Gun Kid, Kid Colt, Red Wolf, Outlaw and a horse. Dwight's idea was shot down because "Horses are expensive". What a pity. I would have killed for that set.
It's always a pleasure to see Gail at SDCC when she's here. She's smart, friendly and likes to chat with fans. I love her work, particularly on Secret Six and Birds of Prey. She's doing a pretty good job on Uncanny X-Men these days, too. I hope I see her next weekend.

For lack of a better term, Marvel needs to announce their “Scott Snyder”. The creative person who will work side by side with Whacker for what will hopefully be a Marvel renaissance.
