The Countdown To SDCC 2026!

Help me out here, guys. I'm compiling a list of the most asked for groups of action figures on our boards. I want to take it with me to SDCC to see if we're any closer or if they've changed their tune at all.

Asgardians
Serpent Society
Someone keeps asking for Golden Age
Monsters, particularly Bronze Age
Cowboys
Maybe a few horses they can ride on
An X-Force guy. Starts with a "K" I think. Brandishes a sword.
Cosmic outer space guys
New Mutants in their training uniforms

What else?

OG Avengers are probably top of my list right now, but that covers characters from across like 40 years and several iterations of the team rather than a discrete team/lineup we can point to. Plus, they’re well represented in the Top 10.

I’ll add X-Factor as a team I’m eager to continue. They got me all excited about X-Factor with Cyclops and Jean Grey, and I’m ready to get the rest of the OG lineup!

So Mike will obviously continue his updates for us, but I doubt that there will be a whole lot of new news broken in the next few days. What with prepping for the main event and all. The big players are probably already on site, constructing their booths and such.

Is it time to start speculating or wish listing yet? It seems we’re in an odd place at the moment. DC Comics is ascendant while DC media has seen better days. Marvel Comics is struggling, but Marvel media is chugging right along.

Star Trek has two current shows, a popular series with a planned ending next season. And an unpopular show, cancelled after its second season which was likely already shot. Paramount has a big presence this year with a lot of Trek related stuff coming up. Perhaps some new announcements?

As for Star Wars, I don’t really even bother anymore.

Wouldn’t mind some Battlestar Galactica news.

McFarlane is down but not out. Mattel is rising. Hasbro has picked up the Legend of Zelda for action figures and other products. Talk about the potential “next big thing”. I want to like the Jada Invincible figures, but there are so few and it’s taking an excruciating amount of time to get them out.

Anyway, should be an interesting week ahead. Any thoughts?

It's always time for that, buddy.

It's the weekend before SDCC, and right now we're in that weird time where we're in kind of a waiting mode. Revving our engines at the light waiting for it to turn green.

I was walking around downtown Friday and it's definitely the calm before the storm. The bar and restaurant workers are dreaming about all the tips they're going to make. The hotels are loading up on supplies. Tomorrow the trucks start rolling down Harbor Drive for the set up days Tomorrow and Tuesday. And then Preview Night.

Man. I've done this 41 times in my life and I still get nervous and anxious. LOL, I don't know why. I wasn't this nervous when I was 19 and flew in a C-130 for Antarctica.

Well, I'm going to keep attending this show for as long as I'm physically able. When I can't anymore, they'll probably have my carcass stuffed and mounted in the convention center somewhere. 😁

My to-do list for Preview Night. Please let me know if I've forgotten anything.

1) Take a couple of swigs of Jack Daniels.

2) Pick up new comics.

3) Take the trolley downtown

4) Take some more swigs of Jack Daniels and some Dramamine to wash it down with

5) Head to the Marriott and pick up that bitchin' Star Trek 60th anniversary comic con tee shirt

6) sniff a little glue

7) Do my volunteer shift. It'll probably be up on the sails pavilion handing out bags and program books to the masses

8) Head into the exhibit hall and the Hasbro booth. Give Dwight and Dan their cards. Ask them where the heck my Golden Age Torch is. Show them the WWII Cap and Bucky figures they did years ago and ask them to do better. Find a new Marvel Hasbro rep and give him or her a pack of cards. Get yelled at by Jesse Falcon.

9) Take more drugs

10) Head back up the sails pavilion and dance the limbo just to see how low I can REALLY go

11) Take more drugs

12) Go back down to the exhibit hall and challenge Professor Mark Waid to a DC Trivia Contest

13) Head to the Marvel booth and demand a JSA/Invaders team up. Ask them when they're going to get their shit together.

14) Take a couple of swigs of Aquavit

15) Go to the Mattel booth and see if they have anything DC related on display. Make new friends there. Try not to throw up on anyone.

16) Find a nice gutter behind the convention center that no one's using. Pass out.

Wake up, rinse, repeat.

Did I forget anything?

Easy there, tiger. I haven't opened mine yet and they're sitting right here in my safe. I'm going to wait until I give @PantherCult his at the Hasbro Legends panel and then we'll open ours together. Hopefully @Beamish will be there this year, too. @hmmberto has said he'll post pictures the weekend of the show or shortly thereafter.

Soon, buddy, soon. ;)
Where can we find pictures of the cards from prior years? I never heard about this
