Super 7 Ultimates Thread

They're a total blind spot for me too. If Super7 has half a brain (and I know that's giving them a lot of credit already) they'll come out with a wave of essential characters and perhaps indicate what a second wave looks like. This is pretty damn niche and if the fanbase doesn't think they'll get a semi-complete team (as someone not familiar with the property, I have no idea how many characters would make for a complete team) it will be dead on arrival. It might be even if they do everything right from that standpoint because we know they're going to be too expensive as is. They're just banking on the few TigerSharks fans that are out there really wanting some toys and that they will just take whatever they can get.
Main characters first, maybe even full team for first wave or two, that's the right move. They've basically done it with the 2003 TMNT, which is way more popular. They knew not to stretch that line out.

Aside from pricing and miserable quality concerns, which are obviously the driving force behind people abandoning Super7 in droves (finally), I think it bears repeating that Super7 is working with a style and articulation format that's over a decade old at this point. While I'm positive it appeals to the few people left that want all of this in a shared universe with MOTUC, the reality is that most toy collectors aren't seeing import price value in a 15-year-old buck with minimal paint and a box of accessories they will use 1/4 of and never look at again.

I'd have more faith in this line if literally anyone else was doing it. Because there's the potential to just make them such cool figures that lots of action figure collectors get on board - like they did with nothing properties like Monster Force. If you make the figure awesome enough, toy people will want it.

If you make the figure fucking garbage enough, even the fans of the property won't want it.

Super7 doesn't seem to understand/care about this and that's why this is yet another destined face-plant for king dipshit and the bad decision mafia.

I also have no recollection of ever watching Tiger Sharks, though I do remember seeing commercials for them. They weren't my bag, so I have no idea what any of it was about.

Count me in as being ready to quit Super7, too. I'd have been done with them years ago but they're the only way I'm going to get the Lunataks from Thundercats, so I'm stuck waiting on the rest of that team. I think there's only 1 more to go, though (or 2...I don't remember). The Thundercats line isn't even very good, but I've wanted Lunataks ever since I was 4 so they have my supple ass bent over a barrel waiting for their manhood on this one.

Red-Eye coming Februaryish, which leaves Tug Mug.

That's a little harsh, but mostly accurate.

Yeah it's like... man, I should be thrilled about one of my favorite little cartoons as a kid getting a toy line, but it'll cost $240 to get Mako, Dolph, two villains, and then maybe never see the rest of the main characters.

I feel like this is one of those "cheap, fast, or good, pick two" scenarios but maybe swapping out "fast" for "complete" and "good" for "good articulation." Like I'd buy them cheap with the whole roster. I'd spend a lot on a full roster with good articulation. I'd buy them cheap with the current articulation. But the main heroic roster is 7 characters plus the dog, so that's $455 at their current $65 price point for just the core team if the dog is a free pack-in. That's the same price as the all-in on the last Mythic Legions wave and even with Legions' meh articulation they blow Super7 out of the water.

Count me among those that never watched Tiger Sharks, so no interest in this line by Super 7 or anyone else.

I know Super 7 is overpriced and sucks, but I don’t see anyone else offering Thundercats, and especially SilverHawks. I’m basically done with Thundercats (have all the characters I want) but I’m still in on SilverHawks for now. The cost, quality and articulation all leave much to be desired, but they look good on a shelf together, and that is my primary concern.

However, I definitely will not order from Super 7 and pay upfront, they could go out of business at any time. I’ll let BBTS and EE take the risk on that.

I actually caved on the vac metal Silverhawks over the holidays, as they had all dropped in price (not deep discounts, just $10-15 here and there). They are pretty sharp looking, and their parts swap more easily than with the cartoon versions. They're all the same sculpt as the originals. Quicksilver has a slight crack in his face paint across the bridge of his nose, and if I were to handle without care, I'm sure that face paint would chip off. So I'm handling with care. The joints are all really tight, so I'm not interested in breaking these. Also, three of the four of them came with a cloth sham to wipe off fingerprints. I thought that was a funny inclusion. If they make Copper Kidd in this style, I'll get him, but not the rest. I did cave on Hot Wing, Stargazer, and Flashback to fill out the team, but the former two were deeply discounted on BBTS. I POed Flashback, Melodia, and Hardware from the next wave, which will be my final Silverhawk purchases.

Fair point.
Never trust your money with a company that is firing/laying off the people that literally do -the thing- the company does. If a toy company is getting rid of its toy -designers-, then what is that company actually doing and how sustainable is it? In all likelihood, we'll spend another year or two seeing product from Super7 that was designed by people they've already fired. Then what?

They don't even give you that anymore. Those new turtles just had some hands and a turtlecom they can't even hold. Donnie did get some goggles and Mikey was the only one to get effect parts. And that's a wave where the figures share 95% of the tooling. Super7 was never a good value, but now it’s truly abysmal.

Friends don't let friends pay full price for Super7 action figures.

One of the reasons I like my S7 figures outside of nostalgia is I got them all for sub $30, if not sub $20.

They are worth playing clearance chicken with.

But I'm also willing to not have any of their products. If I miss out I miss out.

I think I knew that but had kind of forgotten it. And yeah, that's incredible, heaping piles of bullshit.
