Shit I remember when you could track sold inventory on pulse in the source code, and like Hank sold like 30 figures on PulseNothing official but Brian mentioned his reluctance a while back to reveal anything else because sales were not where they wanted them to be on wave 1. Kind of felt like he was trying to force people to buy in on that wave since a lot of people seem to be holding out to see if wave 2 is revealed because they are gun-shy with the way super 7 cancels lines.
Who needs Major Disaster and Headbanger when you can have all those new and exciting Toxie variants?!Still insanely bitter that we got only one series of Toxic Crusaders.
What is the last Super 7 Ultimate wave of any property that went up for preorder? I'm trying to think and coming up dry.
It seems like wave 1 sold really bad though. Maybe to the point where if it wasnt them trying to launch a new line it wouldn’t have gone into production in the first placeThey recently closed TMNT wave whatever as well. The one with 2k3 Shredder, Casey, Foot, and Splinter.
The D&D thing is just so stupid. They must have digital renders of more characters, just put them up as wave 2. We know they don't start production until after the thing closes anyway since they've cancelled many waves at this point after preorders went up. I get that they're probably worried that their retail partners won't want to order anything if they're still sitting on a ton of inventory, but they definitely won't order any more if you never give them the chance.
I want to say Kyle from Super7 boasted on a YouTube interview (probably Robo's channel) that the 2k3 turtles were selling very well. Now, that could be posturing and it's not like there is any incentive for him to say anything other than that, but he sounded genuine. I feel like with him you can tell when he's feeding you a company line and when he's sharing his own personal insight or enthusiasm, but I could easily be deluding myself. That second wave is likely a real proving ground for the line's future. Lot of people seem willing to buy a set of turtles and call it a day, it's another matter to go in on the villains and side characters.
Funny enough, Ronald from Reddit just heard from his source that these figures' elbows can barely hit 90 degrees, even with the double joint, because they were designed so poorly. It wouldn't surprise me if the 2k Turtles are a weak seller. Most people of an age and temperament to be collecting Ninja Turtles action figures probably don't have much or any nostalgia for that version of the series and, even if they like it well enough, are probably less inclined to spend S7 prices on it.
Additionally, as much as we all love articulation -- Super7 is famously fucking awful at implementing articulation. So Super7 figures, but with MORE articulation (i.e. more massive failure points) probably isn't the selling feature that might otherwise be expected.
Oh no! Not our monthly 45 minutes of lies, half-truths, and everything is fine and normal!I'll be surprised if the new turtles can bend their elbows past 90 degrees. Super7 is going to stick that elbow pad right in the middle of the joint and screw it up. I hope to be wrong, but I'll be pleasantly surprised if this new for them approach yields any substantial gains. I half expect them to self-sabotage the whole thing so they can point and say "See, we told you double-jointed elbows don't make a big difference!"
This thread served as a reminder that it's been awhile since an interview with Flynn appeared on Robo's channel. The last one was just before Toy Fair.
