Super 7 Reaction thread

lol so apparently Super7 is doing Micronauts figures. I’m sure that’ll sell like hotcakes. sure let’s make figures based on the one comic that every collector has statistically left behind in the dollar bins at every convention in the entire history of comic cons. I ca’t see anything wrong with this decision at all…..

Micronauts in this case can connect to the toy collectors of the original line as well as the comic fans, as apart from the newly announced Time Travelers, these (Karza, Force Commander, Emperor, Biotron, Microtron) are all in a new scale. I'm pretty happy with them so far.

I am hoping we get an Acroyear next, and really wish they had done a green Time Traveler as that was the primary color scheme in the comics.

(As an aside to Micro fans, next up for the Microman T-Spark line updating the old Microman line is going to be Acroyear.)

I read Micronauts comics and never owned the toys. Some crossover with the robot character likenesses, but the comic used the human character names and fleshed them out. Marvel also created new characters they owned. One of them “Bugg” joined the Guardians of the Galaxy.

I hear about Micronauts all the time from old heads in toys and comics. I just saw Frank Cho did a piece with one of the women for a commission. Someone loves it.

I used to love the OG Micronauts toys as a kid. Didnt even know Marvel did Micronauts comics until i was an adult and never read them. Love the character designs though, Karza always seemed like a Vader-ish badass in my mind. I had that old figure of him with magnetic limbs, it was so cool!

The comic was god-tier for the time; and the toys were simply something that played well but wasn't the comic characters we really wanted and still goddamned fucking yearn for.

So The Micronauts toys predate the comics by a fair bit... The Japanese Microman stuff existed for awhile before Mego brought it to the US.

I remember the Christmas 1976 (1977?) when my older brother got Biotron, Acroyear, Karza and a handful of others for Christmas. I was too young to get my own but was so jealous.

The comic showed up in 1979... but I agree it was fantastic. The Michael Golden art was so good and the stories were better than a licensed comic had any right to be.

I eventually got everything they made in the first two years (76 and 77) and they were my favorite toys from childhood. Such a varied line with highly articulated figures (plastic and die cast), small vehicles with wind up engines, motorized robots and vehicles, large playsets and vehicles, building sets, etc. And everything you could mix and match using the common 5mm connector system.

I am guessing it is selling fairly well for Super7, and they can milk the Time Travelers (I wouldn't be surprised if they blind box them with a variety of colors) and maybe go obscure with Green Baron and Red Atlas with the Karza body. I would think they have to be planning Acroyear, maybe the evil versions of Biotron (Phobos) and Microtron (Nemesis) which would be mostly repaints.

Weirdly, I can't easily find anything that compares the Marvel comicbook characters to the actual toys! The comicbook human leads - Commarder Rann, Marionette and Bugg are Marvel creations. Acroyear, Baron Karza, Biotron and Micrtron are pretty faithful to they toys in the comic

The most obvious figures that were characters as you mention are Acroyear, Baron Karza, Biotron and Microtron - also Force Commander and the Time Travelers. Some of the later alien figures appeared briefly but none looked like Bug.

Rann was Space Glider in the toy line and his helmet and wing-pack matches pretty well. Bug was called Galactic Warrior but looked nothing like the toy of that name. Shiatan was based on the look of Acroyear II. Pharoid in the comic was pretty different than the Pharoid in the toy line.

At various times the Battle Cruiser, Mobile Exploration Lab, the various Orbiters all make appearances as ships in the comics. The Astro Station was seen in the comics as the vehicle that was used as part of the Endeavor. Golden was the best about taking the designs and dropping them into panels.

I've always thought the Karza and Acroyear figures were unplayable garbage, I only really liked the Time Travellers and adjacent Metal Men. MicroTron and Biotron were largely useless due to being so out-of-dcale to the comics' versions. The Aliens were The Shit On Toast. The Repto has to be one of the single-coolest figures of the 70s.

But yeah, all I want are 18th Marvels; which ReAction thankfully just gave us Microtron. Too bad they stupidly gave him a tension-less o-ring that always resets to Face Front Military Attention. We'll no doubt get the dump-ass 'retro' line we deserved 40y ago while the modern line the property deserves *now* and for the last 25y still goes un-made.

Has anyone seen anything about the next wave of Peanuts? I think wave 10 is Snoopy variants. I hope wave 11 is more classic looks of the remaining main characters, Schroeder and Sally. Since this is Super7, I'm worried that the line will end with it feeling only 90% complete.

Too bad the Snoopy family is blind box. Same with sleeping Snoopy
