Star Wars Retro Collection

I haven't heard anything at all, but I do feel like it's slowed down a bit. Im sure poor sales of the Acoltye wave hurt the line.

Im really hoping it continues. I was very into the POTF line too, thankfully the originals are cheaper than retros would be (if they ever made such a thing).

Yeah, I’m actually putting together POTF collection because my original has been throw away or lost at my parents’. It’s surprisingly cheap. Many figures are like $5 especially if you buy lots.

Actually just got my first AT-AT yesterday. Always wanted one as a kid but never got one.

My adult collecting has mostly been Marvel and DC, with some ventures into Ghostbusters and TMNT. Finally getting back into Star Wars, which for me is the original trilogy. I’m a fan of most of the movies and shows and other media sources, but have to limit myself to what I really love for space and financial reasons.

There's too much "Star Wars" stuff out there to collect *everything* and have the money or space for any other line, imo. It's why I decided to just collect the OG Kenner stuff: there's a finite number of figures/ playsets/ vehicles and I can't get it all at once.

I still have all my PotF2 figures binned up in my attic. I can't bring myself to toss them. There were so many figures I really loved in that line. Bespin Luke with the removable hand, RotJ Vader with the removable helmet, Cinema Scenes, 300th figure Boba Fett, and of course Bespin Han Solo, my favorite look for any Star Wars character. The vehicles were mostly rehashed from the original line, so it was nice to get my hands on those since I only had the original Falcon. I really loved the Carbonite Chamber from that era too.

Love the AT-AT so much! That and the Falcon are must have classics for collectors of the line IMO.

Yeah, I have a Falcon too. Haven’t set it up yet. I ordered a stand online so I can have it displayed banked because that’s the only way I’d have space for it. That and the TMNT Sewer Lair were by far my favorite vehicle/playset growing up. They were the rare deluxe item I didn’t feel disappointed by. (Looking at the Toy Biz X-Men Sentinel and Blackbird in particular.)

I’ve started to put in a little display at my work desk in my home office of the POTF and retro collection figures.

For sure. I’m avoiding the vintage collection specifically because there’s wayyyy too much even if I were to just focus on the original trilogy.

I like the Black Series figures and have stopped myself from buying some multiple times (beyond having the POTF carded anniversary ones from a few years back). I know if I get into that line, I’ll go deep. I don’t need every Cantina alien or Ewok or whatever, but even just focusing on the main characters in their looks from different movies, that’s like 50 figures.

Ah that PotF2 slave Leia. The first figure I paid above retail for $20 instead of $4 or whatever they were…

I think I was like 12 when it came out and felt a little like a mini-creeper buying it myself from Toys R Us. I think I’d heard about it in an issue of “ToyFare,” so knew it was coming and actively looking. I lived a five minute bike ride away from TRU, so was able to basically check their figures daily and was allowed to go by myself or with a friend. Had to even cross a Main Street. Different times for kids then.

I remember being at a Service Merchandise (anyone remember those??) coming across the package for a slave Leia, but someone had torn the figure right out. So lame. She eventually became pretty easy to find, and may have even had a minor running change to the paint. But that was one that really made me feel like the intention was to complete the entire universe as action figures.

I actually lived even closer to a Service Merchandise but they had a terrible toy selection so almost never went there. Only figures I ever remember getting there were a few Marvel Action Hour Iron Man figures with the snap-on vac-metal armor pieces.

As for POTF, I think eventually it was all easy to find. I stopped collecting around 1998 until I got back into as an adult, but remember Star Wars being very easy. Of course, I got out of it right before the Phantom Menace craze.

Love the setup @gpmartin414 ! I get lost in those kind of pics every time, really dig the ToyBiz marvel guys hiding out in the corner too!

Ahh the Slave Leia! Yeah, I remember hunting hard for that figure. I did find one at retail eventually, which didn't matter because I came across like 100 of them when Toys-R-Us had the great POTF purge. My best bud and I drove across SoCal and hit every single Toys R Us and got just about everything we could fit in the car. Looking back, man how crazy of a mission was that? WOuld never do it again, but damn it was fun!

Thanks! I like my desk display to mostly be either random figures or stuff I recently acquired. I got a new shelf for my monitor, though, that has that perfect middle area for Star Wars 3.75” figures.
