Star Wars Black Series

My biggest gripe with Embo is just the de-saturation of him from the jump to live-action. I know this version fits a bit better into the dingy world of Mando, but there was plenty of color elsewhere in the film. I miss those yellow and red bits to him that helped him pop.

I agree the height is a bit of a bummer, but it admittedly doesn't bother me all that much. Would he look better if he was a bit taller? Absolutely, but he's still such a cool, gangly dude, and at least in Clone Wars, he's often hunched or crouched or doin' flips and stuff that I personally feel alright fudging it a little bit. I guess having him at all is better than not having him, but I realize that probably makes me part of the problem too.

But this way, Hasbro can stick to their track record and re-release him later on down the line, either with one of his dogs, Clone Wars colors, or slightly longer limbs. Can't give everything away on the first release! 🤪

Okay, I know you're all wondering what I think now that I finally have a new Snowtrooper.

...I like it.

Complaints up front are minor. The big one is that I was really hoping he'd have butterfly range closer to the new Stormtrooper body and he just kind of doesn't. Can't really get those convincing blaster poses with both hands out in front of his chest the way I wanted. Again, that's a minor gripe but I do wish he could pull it off.
The other, even more minor thing is that I wish his weapons were black. I don't even know if that's a complaint that's fair, because they may look like this in the film. Obviously, this is not intended to be an OT figure. But... black weapons is what I would have preferred, so complaint it is.

Other than that, this figure is fire, as the kids say. The alternate ...facekerchiefs? ... are a really great touch. They could have included just one of those for us OT collectors and I would have been very happy. Two? Insanity. And two different guns. This guy is a true bonafide army builder and I love that they went that route.
I was also super impressed that his skirt piece can actually bend out of the way like they show it in the promo shots. Looking at those, I was like 'no fucking way can you actually do that.' You, in fact, can do that.
Awesome figure. I need at -least- one more.

Yeah, I really found myself pleasantly surprised at ol' Snowie. David Snowie, if you will. It's essentially the Snowtrooper version of the Hoth and Endor Trooper figures we got, just at a "normal" price point.

I still had the super old Snowtrooper- maybe the first version that came out? But the gun on that one had some nice little silver-ish scuff marks which looks better than the solid color ones these came with, so I swapped 'em out for a little added oomph. I do also miss the little dirt wash that the old one's feet had, but that's a minor nit that's easily fixed.

I want at least one more of each; I don't army build like I used to, but I did just pull aside a bunch of my old army builders- some of the red box Clones- to sell and make some room, so there's some extra space on the shelf now. I'll do my best to wait until they hit a sale, though.

I like the idea of army building when you can make the trooper unique, even if it’s just a small thing like the mask or helmet. I don’t want to buy identical troops that much anymore, though I will do Stormtroopers if I find a good deal. I got a bunch of Jedha STs for clearance at Target a couple years ago.

I haven't army-built Star Wars since I managed to get the right number of stormtroopers a few years back (I like my clones to each be unique which feels like an oxymoron) but the snow trooper is cool enough if they go on sale I might get two more so I can have a little squad with unique face masks.
