I'll blame Iger. He put the pressure on everyone else to get Episode 7 out as fast as possible and hired a filmmaker adept at setting things up and not paying them off. Episode 8 is next year's problem.

Full agreement. The best parts about Last Jedi was how much it expanded the setting. Let's see the wealthy class and try to break away from light side/dark side dogma. Luke was awesome yet fallible, the best kind of hero. Finn walking back into the lion's den, Rey being an abandoned nobody, Poe learning that not everybody thinks he's the hero of the story. All great character stories.

I even thought the Holdo maneuver was cool. It looked awesome (which what really matters) and I just accepted it was a big ship vs big ship thing that nobody else would want to pay the price of.

I was a little let down at the end, though, that Kylo just decided to become the new Supreme Leader instead of letting it all burn like he'd been pitching.

I was surprised they didn't give us any redos for the 10th anniversary of Force Awakens.

I would love a shelf of sequel trilogy figures. Those characters had me hooked from the trailer. I can't say Force Awakens lived up to that promise, but they're still fundamentally intriguing characters.

I've avoided buying any Temple Guards, so far. The variety offered by this 2-pack makes it less likely I'll continue guard-less.
Very stoked for Hardcase and Dogma. I have a Hardcase from AliExpress, but want an official one with a pretty, unhelmeted head.
Jaro Tapal would be awesome. I'm sitting on a few unopened 13th Battalion clones. They are just waiting on their leader.
I might buy two Pong Krell figures. One to put on a shelf and play with. One for cathartic violence.
I give the sequel trilogy as much thought as I do the shits I took on the day of their release.

I liked Luke Skywalker confronting his fallen nephew not with a lightsaber. In the sequels I wanted to see the camaraderie I enjoyed in the OT. It just wasn’t there.

I have really enjoyed Black Series this year. Yes I want more OT figures. This latest wave I have been able to get Zeb, Droid Merc, and New . I have been really impressed with how much fun they are. They don’t have a ton of paint, enough. The sculpt and articulation is quite good. The accessories are nice value adds. Better if a few bucks cheaper? Yep. I do like army building but I’ll pace myself here. I really hope the SBD Merc gets scaled up from the TVC scale. I’d like to pair it up with the B1 style. The Snowtrooper has great versatility. Zeb is a wonderful addition to my live action Rebels figs.

Oh I cannot put down the new Snowtrooper, by the way. So damn cool. The nostalgia button lights up hard, and these guys can do all kinds of neat stuff with all the swappable parts. The “new” exposed-mask head setup keeps finding its way into the car with me for trips, he feels like a tough lone trooper out doing evil deeds.

The sequel trilogy will always be a frustrating experience for me. They had legitimate dynamite with characters like Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren and Poe Dameron. Sure TFA was a retread, but the hook was in. Everyone has their opinion on TLJ, but at least it was a real movie! Episode IX is an abomination unto God. It tried to apologize for the last movie despite being an incoherent collection of scenes that seemed to be selected by a committee; no voice, no vision, just the question, "What would fans like to see?" I'm sorry, I just loathe Rise of Skywalker with my entire being.

Saying all that, I love these characters. I thought for sure Hasbro was going to do an anniversary line. So much in fact that I sold most of my sequel figures. I thought it was the safest bet. I wanted definitive updates for the main group, and could easily see Hasbro doing it for the anniversary. I was dead wrong. I guess the sequel trilogy will be scorched earth as far as Black Series goes until the next Rey movie they keep saying is "definitely" happening.

It's funny, I have forsworn ever re-litigating or talking about my opinions on the sequels, but I would still drop some cash on a really good Rey, Finn, Poe, and some supporting characters. I don't necessarily think Black Series did them dirty so much as the films came out just before that HUGE leap forward in face printing technology.

(I will never spend money on a Kylo figure again but that's me. I have a thing about negging gaslighters. And also I know way, way, way too many romance novelists who make more money off their books than I do mine writing Reylo fan fic.)

Got shipping notice on Embo and the snow trooper just now. I am vaguely offended they have not given Embo his wolfy sidekick.

Is the temple guard in the two pack exactly the same as the one we already have? I've been using that figure as kind of a nameless ronin Order 66 survivor and would like to keep doing so, but hoping they're not COMPLETELY identical cos I want THAT OTHER ONE a lot.

On the one hand, I wouldn't mind just getting a really nice Rey as a stand in for the the things I did like about the sequel trilogy. I don't need or want the whole cast, or even a few characters. Not because I don't like them, but just because of my deeply pared down SW collection.
On the other hand.. I really hate Rey's capris.

I just want them to do photoreal Finn and Poe from Rise. I didn't care for the film at all, but I liked their looks in that movie, and the Poe figures we did get are AWFUL! I only have the Force Awakens Finn, and he looks more like Tracey Morgan than Boyega, so a new version of him would be welcome.

Them doing the Archive TFA Han (and GE Hux) from a few years ago just makes the difference all the more jarring- the old man Han looks pretty darn good, whereas everyone around him looks like they were shot with that Simpsons makeup gun.

Just one wave would have worked, like the Rebels re-release wave. Photoreal, new sculpt TFA Rey, TROS Finn and Poe, Ben Solo and an all-new, regal Leia would have been fantastic. Add in a Master Luke Force Ghost variant or the Crait Luke they never did to round it out, and someone needs to come with a clean BB-8.

Throw in a Somehow He Returned Palpatine as a Deluxe.

I think they'd sell fine.
