Star Wars Black Series

Oh, I saw it. I actually even watched it. Believe it or not, on some of his points I really don't think he's far off. The video is a little cringey anyway, because it's just full of 'when I was there I told them this was a bad idea, I am so smart.' He's not wrong about some of his points, but I also think he's overlooking what Black Series is and what it isn't.
I actually watched it last night as well, and I agree- not totally off the mark ("from a certain point of view"). It just always amuses me that all these ex-employees of big companies- Bobby Vala, Scott Neitlich, etc. love to overstate how important they were to their respective companies. Don't get me wrong- I'm sure they were to an extent, but there comes a point when you gotta stop milking the cow.

I glanced at the comments on his video and was surprised to see most of the people pushing back because Black Series collectors are content with what they got and aware that they're not getting it anywhere else. Which I'd agree isn't necessarily A positive, but this is what we get.
Like I said, his criticism seems to fundamentally misunderstand what Black Series is.
I don't think it was EVER the most hyper-articulated line and it's never prioritized articulation. It's way more a line about giving you figures that can mostly do what you would -generally- want that character to do on a shelf. The only real failing I think they have in that regard is how many Jedi/Sith can't hold sabers two-handed.

I mean, I'm the kind of collector that loves -more- articulation and more posing potential. But I don't think that's representative of the majority of Black Series collectors that will museum pose their figures until the end of time. Or even many of the toy photographers that mostly want to hit 'typical' poses for the character.

Also, his complaint about single joints 'only' getting 90 degrees-ish (I think Luke actually gets slightly better than 90) ignores that plenty of double-joints only get 90 degrees.

I also think his whole 'double knees look better' thing is subjective. He looks at how the knee overlaps on a single joint and says it looks bad. Some people look at all the exposed joints when you use a double knee and say THAT looks bad. It's not an objective 'this is better than that' situation except in terms of ROM. Which many people don't care about - especially in the knees since you'll almost NEVER use more than 90 degrees of movement at the knees for 90% of the characters you buy figures of. Especially in Star Wars.

Bob was not important at Hasbro, first of all. WAY less important than Scott was. And everyone knows how I feel about Scott and how much it pains me to admit that.

Also, at least Scott is apparently like.. an unemployed McDonalds worker or something now. I don't care if he bags on toy companies all day long. He's just some fuckin' dumb guy. With Bob, it feels way more inappropriate for him to make these videos criticizing other lines because he is operating a toy company, and he's almost always talking about his old bosses, basically.
That's a double-whammy of feeling like what he's doing is kind of gross. Can you imagine if some dude from Hasbro was 'reviewing' Valaverse, BBWS, Mattel, and Jada figures? How would that LOOK? Ya' know?

Treya and Nihilus are being shipped soon, my updated estimate says I'm getting mine Wednesday. Fearful a lot of stuff is about to hit me at once.

Yep, Treya and Nihilus arriving this week, as is one (so far) of the latest wave of GI Joe Classified.

I think we are about to see a big bump for a bunch of Hasbro stuff that was supposed to drop July 1st or so.

So ready for Treya and Nihilus. I got my 2 Grogu's finally from Pulse today, and I also got the Maul: Shadow Lord Wave. The Maul Wave is a very solid, very impressive looking Wave of figures. Every one of them is a winner.

As always, Grogu is adorable.

Speaking of Nihilus and Traya, we are supposed to be seeing another Legends 2 Pack soon. Also, on Yakface, the site is saying that 3 characters are coming from a recent want list of theirs, where some characters have already been released such as Geonosian Warriors, Republic Commandos, and Lord Starkiller.

Who knows which 3 characters from their list it might be, but on that list are Darth Bane, Lumiya, the Clone Emperor, Dark Empire Luke, and Rahm Kota.

Any of those would thrill me.

Here is the list if anyone wants to see.

Yeah. I'm fully expecting Starkiller, Destro, and Max Thor to obliterate my wallet in the next ten days too...

Yeah, my Treya and Nihilus updated to arriving next Monday. Happy to finally be rid of that old Maul body.

Starkiller Scissorhands should be arriving tomorrow from Pulse as well. This week is rather dark-sided.

Thats what I got going on too. Maul wave coming from pulse. Then Galen will be coming from BBTS very soon, and now Treya and Nihilus from Amazon. I don't have anyone for them to fight yet, since they never made a good body for my Meetra Suric custom.

It certainly feels like the quarterly ritual of Hasbro turning into Bully Hasbro, stealing my hard earned lunch money and giving me a wedgie, then flipping its black emo hair and saying "Now dig on this" and hip thrusting some more action figures my way.

Happy to have 'em, just wish the circumstances were a bit different.

Yep. I love the set, just wish I didn't FOMO and get it for full price. Surprisingly the single, colour, release is still available on sale on Amazon.ca so I might cave on it.

Personally I put him with my Tamashii Nations: Movie Realization Star Wars Samurai figures and he fits right in with them.
