Star Wars Black Series

This forum needs a Matt limit.....
Talking with some writer friends ages ago about stereotypes for names and it was determined by consensus that because there are SO MANY FUCKING MATTHEWS there is actually no predictive behavior when you meet a Matt. You're just as likely to meet a finance bro Matt or a racist Matt as you are to meet a Matt who works with Greenpeace standing in the way of whaling harpoons or who volunteers as a civil rights lawyer. There's just such an infestation you can't get a bead on stereotypical behavior.

The same group said they never trust a Kevin, though.

I’m still a little shocked another Norm showed up here… then again, it’s not THAT unpopular a name in pop culture. Norman Bates. Norman Osborn. Norm Petersen.

I've only known four 'Norms' in my life and they were all old as fuck, so I definitely think it's a name that has fallen out of favor a bit. I've noticed a lot of women's names like that, where every woman I know with certain names is over 50.

Four is so many!

Three of them were old guys slowly aging out of their construction jobs. Apparently Norman was a common blue collar name in like the '50s.
I've heard of other Norms, but I don't know any personally. One was mayor of the town I grew up in. There was another at a local high school near where I worked that was also Asian!

It's the M names that have appeared the most in my life- Matt, Michael/Mike and Mark. "Mark" has provided me with one of the nicest people I've ever met, and one of the worst (my dad), so there's that. In addition to knowing many Michaels, it's also one of my middle names, and what I'd hear every time I got in trouble as a kid. 😅

I needed a numbering system for all the Sarahs and Katies I knew back in the day.

At one time, my sister, my girlfriend and my best female friend were all named Katie.

Dave. I've known so many goddamn Daves. At one point, my old boss was named Dave, his dad is named Dave, my co-worker was named Dave, three of our good clients are named Dave, two of their workers we interact with regularly are named Dave, my father's name is Dave. In that entire group there's like one guy I like.

Damien will be enthused to know that our own Robert Valaveras threw up a video offering his expertise and insights on how Hasbro has failed Black Series.
Oh, I saw it. I actually even watched it. Believe it or not, on some of his points I really don't think he's far off. The video is a little cringey anyway, because it's just full of 'when I was there I told them this was a bad idea, I am so smart.' He's not wrong about some of his points, but I also think he's overlooking what Black Series is and what it isn't.

Even growing up it was the Nick and Nicholas and Sean's that outnumbered Matts. Could never get away from Sarah, Amanda, Kristen, and Courtney either.

And yet as an adult I would kill to meet an Amanda. It's like they all just raptured.

I glanced at the comments on his video and was surprised to see most of the people pushing back because Black Series collectors are content with what they got and aware that they're not getting it anywhere else. Which I'd agree isn't necessarily A positive, but this is what we get.

In one of my shows last year, we had five Amandas. We are clearly hoarding them. I had to give them all nicknames based on on their role: “Aman-Beth-da, Aman-Gussie-da, Aman-Chorus-da, Aman-techie-da” and so on.
