Star Wars Black Series

I STILL haven't seen Galaxy's Edge in person.
Me neither. I REALLY want to experience it!
Really hope to get the Boyo to Disney World- he's only ever been to Disney Land, and thusly doesn't believe me when I say that World is better than Land (subjectively, of course, but it's a hill I'll die on).
World is SO much better than Land. Not even a close contest
I'm a fan of Anya, but 100% agree on this. If they've got to do live action Ventress (and of course, they will eventually) I'd love to be completely surprised by a newcomer. I feel like Anya is only on anybody's list because she's rail-thin and has a face shaped a bit like the 3d model. People fan-cast so much for looks alone and it's exhausting.
Seriously. I get so sick of it. I want to see someone who can pull off the CHARACTER. How they look is irrelevant.
Re: discussions of Star Wars, the thing that's frustrating about Star Wars, and most pop culture fandoms now, is typically when I am critical, the folks hearing it fill in the thing they think I'm critical about long before I actually get it out, and typically the thing I am critical about is not part of what they assumed.
I've also long checked out of SW discussions with anyone outside my friend group. It's insane how toxic some people are. I find myself, even when I agree about a certain movie not being very good, not agreeing with their reasons for hating it.

I was just looking at my Kyle order and virtually poking it with a stick like 'c'mon. move. let's go.' I really want that wave early. But I thought I saw somewhere that the wave with the bounty hunter Ventress is shipping early? That'd be fun. I haven't had any SW love for my collection really since the new Han and Chewie, and as good as they are, upgrades are never as sexy as new figures. C'mon, Kyle and Quinlan...
Yeah, YakFace said that solid cases of Bounty Hunter Asajj and Duel's End Vader were starting to arrive in the US, so those ones might be coming soon. Not sure on the others, though. But given a couple of reviews have started popping up for them, it wouldn't surprise me to see them before the holidays. Hasbro's gotta sneak in one last assault to my wallet while at its most vulnerable.

Are you thinking of the Dok Ondar figure? The big Ithorian/Hammerhead guy? Or is there another one?

This is the one I was talking about. Very cool to “see” him in person. I was happy to buy him. Fun figure. And he has such a cool store.

Nope, that's him. Truly thought he was Mon Cal and not Ithorian when I posted. But yeah, I trust the people I ask to get it, they come through with any other souvenirs, but they always say it's never around. Don't want to impose too much.

Re: people letting go of Star Wars. In my experience, It tends to be the reverse gatekeeping you'd expect.

It's generally original trilogy purists who act like they are the superior Star Wars fan around me, and look down on those who would read the books and Comics and play the video games. If you really wanted to make it a competition, in my world I would be the biggest Star Wars nerd because I partake of all that, and don't need a fan edit restoration to consider myself satisfied with a viewing of the movie.

I truly don't care. It's just an observation that amuses me, because with something like X-Men or Game of Thrones, it usually becomes a "I've read more than you and know all the trivia" competition, as I'd expect.

BBTS has a pre-order up for anyone who missed the Bespin Duel set. It's priced up to $100, though, so not that great of a deal. They also have the SOTE Boushh Leia and Luke 2 pack for pre-order if anyone missed it.
Looks like Entertainment Earth put it up as well for $80, with free shipping, so they have my order!

Re: Dok Ondar- he really is such a fun figure. I hope you're able to snag one, alt. It's a shame they don't make the exclusives more easily available. I know they want to have some exclusivity to the parks, but they really should keep them more available on the Disney Store site. Even the original GE figures like Hondo and those 3 packs were fairly easy to get through Target that one time.

Re: Steve Buscemi in Star Wars, hell yeah. Make him a snappy droid, make him a wisecracking smuggler or pirate, whatever.

Re: Nerds- yeah, it's kind of across the board, but it's definitely the OT purists that are the worst. Even the ones that weren't alive when they first came out, but have convinced themselves that they're the pinnacle of cinema. The same people who refuse to admit they trashed the prequels and now regard them as pretty good, especially when compared to the sequels. It's the absolute hatred and trashing of anything related to the Disney era that really gets me. They've certainly had their highs and lows, but to automatically hate everything just because George wasn't involved and to shit on anyone who does enjoy them is just yucky. But they'll negate their own point because a lot of them will praise Mando and Andor. Just the other week, in fact, when standing out to meet Rian Johnson before the new Knives Out movie, there were a couple guys- some graphers, some just regular guys- shitting on the TLJ who then turned around and asked Rian to sign their big poster and said right to his face "Love the work, man!"

Star Wars fans are exhausting, and I really hate that telling a more casual fan that I'm a Star Wars fan requires the follow-up of "But not one of those fans".

Did you build a saber or droid?
I didn’t, unfortunately. I was really just trying to take it all in. My wife and my friends totally filmed me walking in and nerding out and running from thing to thing.

It was fun because, me being me, folks kept asking if I was in costume as a Sith Lord.
“No, just a goth!”

(I did totally on purpose wear a Sith Lord-like outfit, though. Flowing cloak with a hood for the win! But I’d have worn it to the grocery store too.)

. . . it does feel like the whole place is going to get a less-specific-to-TFA makeover at some point, though. I giggled at stuff like the not-accurate-to-TLJ walkers in Rise, and other things like Finn being in a stormtrooper outfit: it was very very VERY “this is *specifically* 2016 Star Wars”. Which, like, is a fun time capsule and not at all lame, just a bit quaint at this juncture. I don’t want to be one of those awful awful OT fans, but it’s pretty clear that a more timeless approach would make more sense now, and it’s crazy not to have Vader as the center of the whole experience.
(I did get to go on the revamped Star Tours which I had also never been on, and got to deal with the Dark Lord there)

Ohhhhhh and we were there at night when they did the whole “legend of Skywalker” light show, and I wept. It was an absolutely beautiful way to tell the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker. Incredibly moving, all right there above the Millennium Falcon.

Harry Potter isnt the problem. Rowling is just a pos. Its like watching anything with Kevin Spacey or any of Joss Whedons work. Don't let the shitbird behind the camera ruin a good time. Buffy will always be top tier. Everything Whedon did in Avengers was fantastic. But the dudes a total heel and doesn't deserve to do anything else now. Enjoy what came before, and be selective in what comes after, which hopefully, is nothing.
