Snow C.A.T. Live!

Oh right I forgot Savage Land snuck under $100. Silly since that's the only exclusive I bought. It is surprising, would have also sold fine at $100. I'm more of a Classified fan but I think Savage Land was a better value.

I don't know, I've seen posts on socials of people saying they don't think it's going to fund all tiers and canceling. Sure it's a little early but sometimes you just decide something and do it.
At first I was leaning in that direction, and that could be the case. Backer counts for Haslabs can fluctuate throughout the day (gain/loss). However nothing like this is happening with the LAAT/i Gunship. Also the consistent nature of the drops (20+ every day within a couple hours of my morning update) is suspect. Losing backers throughout the day can total that amount, but somehow every day within a select time frame there is a big drop in backers. And lets be honest here losing 20+ backers in an hour or two while a project is still moving forward in a positive direction is not normal.

So yeah it could just be people dropping off from too much coming out and having to pick and choose. However I personally don't see it happening so consistently with just one Haslab and nothing like it happening with the other Haslab.

Sorry I am not trying to be a conspiracy theorist with this situation but I have been tracking Haslabs since Galactus and this is definitely unusual.

Absolutely. I see comments, "everything from Hasbro is over $100!" for the SDCC stuff. Prices are high and maybe some people decided they'd rather have Cold Slither or whatever. Hasbro also didn't give us any further reason at SDCC to back the Snow CAT, aside from saying Iceberg is coming eventually.
I can’t believe we are under 2 weeks and they aren’t doing anything to try to drum up more interest.

Someone on Hisstank says backer drops don't happen in real time and are "batched out" around 6 a.m.

Makes more sense than anything else I've heard — although I feel like the drops did happen in real time with the Rancor and Ghost Rider campaigns. Maybe it has something to do with the updated website.

Hoping this funds. Don't collect Cobra figures, so I plan on putting my future release Loose Collector's Yeti with it. I think they will pair up well.

I guess that could be a thing, but I am with you that I have seen the backer counts fluctuate throughout the day, even for this Haslab. So it could be a combination of both. A batch of cancellations dropped every day, plus the daily fluctuations. It is probably the most reasonable explanation though I am not seeing anything like that with the LAAT/i Gunship, so who knows. Of course it is still early for the Gunship and it may not have too many people backing out just yet.

Anyway:

Snow C.A.T.

7,648 / 8,000 (+34) 95.60% of funding goal with 11d 19h left.

Despite my moaning and groaning about the daily backer drop (should be in about 3-4 hours) this is still moving forward. Hopefully this can fund with a couple days left to have a strong shot at all the tiers.

Here we go again.

Snow C.A.T. 7,603 (45 less than a couple hours ago)

LAAT/i Gunship 2,848 (2 less than a couple hours ago)

So maybe the "batch" cancellation update could be a thing. However as I mentioned before, we are not seeing the same thing with the Gunship. Yes a small drop today, and there could just be fewer people wanting to cancel that right now, but such large numbers every day for the Snow C.A.T. is still unusual (all at once).

Another thing that may be holding this back is the lack of army building. The Hiss and Rattler did that better and ha: 26,000+ orders. The Dragonfly, much like this, had all named characters and did only 24,000+ orders. Still far and above beyond the 14,000 we need to unlock everything but to drop so dramatically from the previous 3 is so weird. Even half the interest would have us in the 12-13K range. Surely this isn’t that much less popular than the others?

I think that has more to do with general fatigue than character selection. Every year Hasbro is asking us to spend a fairly large amount of money on a Marvel HasLab, a Star Wars HasLab, and a Joe HasLab - and they don't really seem to care too much how much customer crossover there is. Most toy companies also (and this isn't really a criticism) operate like there are no other toy companies in existence and their products are the only ones you can spend money on.

Seems inevitable that, especially as middle class buying power and general economic health declines, people are going to be less likely to just keep throwing money at all these projects. Also, the HISS was novel. It was the first time for that. No one knew if it would ever happen again. It felt like being a part of toy history, I guess. Now... it's just a thing that happens every year. It's not really that exciting anymore.

Yeah.. blah blah talky talky - I could go on for a while. The bottom line is that I do think there's a lot of factors in why this isn't moving as quickly and people don't seem to be as excited about it. But I do also still think ONE of those reasons is Hasbro apparently having fired anyone that knew how to market or sell things, because they're doing a piss-poor job right now.

They really don't seem to consider other factors when planning these things. Even Hollywood will look at what's coming out when and make an ATTEMPT to not cannibalize itself. But dropping multiple preorders, a couple hundred bucks for SDCC exclusives for those who were lucky enough to get them, and TWO Haslabs at the same just feels like corporate greed overtaking common sense. Spread it out enough so folks can make bad decisions easier. I'm dragging my feet on this one but I know I'd be 50% more likely to just cave if it was landing in, like, March or October when there was less competition for my attention.

Snow C.A.T.

7,698 / 8.000 (+50) 96.23% of funding goal with 10d 18h left.

Ever closer, but let's see what the numbers are like in the next hour as I am expecting a drop of at least 20 backers very soon.

And there it is:

Snow C.A.T. 7,660 (down 38 in less than an hour)

LAAT/i 2,898 (down 15 in less than an hour)

So it does seem like it is more and more leaning towards some kind of mass cancellation algorithm for the previous day. Mostly because it is seemingly starting to affect the LAAT/i as well.

In any case it is still frustrating because it means every day the funding has to work harder to just get back to where it was before 6am EST.

340 till being funded. Hopefully when (going to stay optimistic) it gets funded it’s in the middle of the day so more orders can be placed with the FOMO. I would hate to have it fund late at night only to go back to being unfunded after the early morning drop.

I think the big tell will be Friday if it cannot get funded by the end of the last pay day before campaign ends I could see a lot of people bail.

I'm very curious to see if they would actually drop the number back down below the funding level once its reached - and even more curious if that would affect the status between funded/unfunded. I would think surely not, but you never know with how wonky the site seems to be.

They don’t typically say ‘funded’ immediately after it reaches the goal, probably for that exact reason. Although once things fund, they typically see a spike in orders as its happening and that point and FoMo begins its work.
