Snow C.A.T. Live!

I recently bought a piece of the Rolling Thunder's turret gun because my brother's RT was missing the upper portion that holds the barrel. The missiles on this thing are ludicrous.

It's gaining momentum, triple digits by Friday!

Earlier in this thread I said something about liking the suspense. Yeah, that's really only when I have zero to mild interest. Like with the Rancor, when it got to the point when I was backing only if I saw Oola or Palace Guest Leia.

Seeing as someone mentioned it, I never had one but damn if the Phantom isn't still the coolest plane I think I've ever seen, I love the heck out of it. I know it's far too big to ever get a Classified version but it's up there on my WHALE/Tomahawk/APC 'vehicles we'll never get' wishlist.

I wonder if Hasbro added open ended stretch goals how it would effect it. Not saying I think the Snowcat needs more goodies, but if all current tiers get unlocked and say there is 20+ days more to go, I kinda wouldn't mind if it reached an addition $XX over to get some smaller extras added. Like get a recolored weapons set, or one more new hairpiece for Lady Jay that either makes her a new character or is a throwback to the comics/cartoon, blast affects for the weapons, etc. One of the Four Horsemen kickstarters a few years back reached the goal and first few tiers so quickly, they started throwing in stuff they hadn't originally planned for that wave which I thought was cool.

That’s not entirely true. They listened to feedback that the first tier figure needed to be in the base offering (dragon + figure) so they did and then added something they thought about at one point to fill the gap left by that move. Granted, they legitimately added something they weren’t planning on originally and that is what separates them from the corporations like Hasbro.

The only time Hasbro has done that was with the Sentinel Haslab. It was their first experiment with tiers and they vastly underestimated the demand and threw in an unplanned head and extra tentacle when their goals got met so quickly. I think we’d have to hit all of those tiers in the first week to get them to ever consider adding more. That’s really the only advantage of backing early now to get that very unlikely possibility.

To be fair, Boss Fight did that with their very first Kickstarter and they went on record later saying it was a terrible decision and bogged them down horribly because it was just too much stuff to try to deal with at once, and too much stuff for the factory to make at once. There's something to be said for the manufacturer knowing their limits. I'd rather Hasbro not add any more items if, FOR EXAMPLE, it means the SnowCat gets pushed out by 6 months so they can finish the extra stuff.

I think what can make this hard to wrap our heads around ("this" being HasLabs) is that the feel a lot like Kickstarter, but they're not. A Kickstarter would -typically- have stretch goals that you have to pay for when they unlock if you want to get them. That can keep the momentum going because you're guaranteed the opening item earlier in the funding process, but you can keep driving towards more stuff if you want it.
HasLabs are kind of like this, with like the built-in assumption that you will want those items because they're part of the base price and there's no option to customize.

I wonder how different this would look if the SnowCat was 250 dollars and funded at 7k backers, but the stretch goals were legit stretch goals that you had to pay extra for once they unlocked. That could also come with the added benefit that, in a proper KS, you can buy as many of the stretch goals as you want. Extra Jayes, extra Flints - that could drive up funding and create more supply of those figures for folks that don't want the SnowCat. Want Flint but not the SnowCat? Ask a friend who is getting the SnowCat to throw in an extra Flint for you. Not something you can currently do in this model and I feel like that is a mistake.

But I also don't expect the way HasLabs work to change so I'm just yammering.

I think Mickey Mouse Cobra Commander was another unexpected tier addition due to such a hugely successful Haslab. If you look back at the HISS it seems pretty likely that they had planned on the extra accessories to be a tier on their own but, just like the Sentinel, things went so fast they had to make up the final tier. Which is why CC didn't have a digital render like the other figures.

Possibly, it’s hard to say for sure since they were hiding the tiers back then rather than showing them all up front.

Snow C.A.T.

6,982 / 8,000 (+50) 87.28% of funding goal with 28d 20h left.

Almost past 7,000 and 4 weeks (plus 20h) left for funding. I'm pretty hopeful this will finally fund by the end of SDCC.

I think once they show it off at SDCC there will be a decent bump in the numbers. Since I really want LJ and Flint, I was hoping it would be further along by now so that the SDCC bump would easily push it past all the unlocks. Now I am not too sure.
