Snow C.A.T. Live!

Is that the steepest Day 1 to Day 2 drop? I appreciate that this is all tea leaves and bone throwing at this point, but I'm more engrossed in these numbers than any sports score.

I think the mission-specific nature of the vehicle is still a major factor. Sure, we're possibly getting two figures in arctic gear, but besides Frostbite, who's already included, the only other arctic figures we have are Snow Job and Snow Serpent. That's a pretty limited assortment of characters to fill a display. Obviously, you can throw whoever you want with them, like no-shirt/no-shoes/no-service Quick Kick. And the CAT could sensibly be running down any Cobra it wants. But I think if there's any reason people aren't rushing to get this thing, it's the fact that it's specifically an arctic mission vehicle.

This is where I'm at. I have nostalgia for the old toy, but I have no interest in a snow specific vehicle with snow/cold specific characters. The desert themed guys can squeak by.

I only saw the Snow Serpent and Snowjob once each here in Toronto, and both times when I was teased about them being my toy pick up, I said, quite seriously, "What am I going to do with skis and a snowboard, run around outside when we get snow?" Favourites as a kid (especially because of the snowboard), but I guess money and space make the best excuses for this hobby.

See also: flipped my Dragonfly because I couldn't reconcile it as a proper air assault and jump bird.

Even as someone where F4 is right behind X-Men as a Marvel reader, Galactus also did nothing for my inner child.

Yep, I think they'd be real smart to do a stream before this ends showing off an upcoming wave of snow characters or the polar battle bear. A $100 price point Cobra Wolf etc.

Where do people put all of their Haslabs once they have them? Do you have room?
I have a very small house, but it has a semi-finished basement I use as a studio/workspace that has this weird built-in shelf along one wall that has turned out to be perfect for the Joe vehicles. Orrrrr it did until I got the Rattler, which is both wide and long and also not high enough on the flight stand to fly over the smaller vehicles, so now I need to rethink things.

Galactus I have no idea where to put. I don't regret the Joes stuff because it's thus far been very displayable, but Big G I don't know where the hell to put him and I kick myself over backing that one sometimes because I'll take him out to mess with but then have to put him back in the box for safe storage. I can just leave the Dragonfly or Hiss out and take it down off the shelf to tinker with on a whim.

Hasbro revealed the HISS Fire Team at SDCC around the time of the HISS campaign. I think there's a good chance they reveal some other arctic themed figures (maybe even the Polar Battle Bear skimobile) at SDCC. Obviously they will release some more arctic stuff anyway. And the Snow Cat won't be coming out for a year. Once that other stuff comes out, some people will regret not anticipating more releases and will have missed out on the Snow Cat.

Ah Christ... I was picturing something like single figures, but they're totally gonna have a set like that aren't they? Probably some Arctic steel brigade guys.

I honestly love that the pack ins were Snow Lady Jaye and Snow Flint... not something mor specific or collection necessary but fun to have regardless. I am an automatic in for this.

Snow C.A.T.

6,079 / 8,000 (+278) 75.99% of funding goal with 42d 19h left.

Definitely the slowest start to a Classified Haslab to date. Could be due to any number of reasons, but after only a couple days it is already 3/4 of the way to being funded so no real worries. It is just going to be annoying having to watch this slow crawl to the inevitable 20,000+ backers by the end.

I haven't backed yet even though I 100% plan to at this point. It's not like there's a reward for backing early. I'd prefer more people holding out late to create tension.

With a normal preorder, I always get disappointed when I'm 15 minutes late because I have it my head that drops me down in the shipping queue

Imagine if something tragic happens and I'm placed in a medically induced a coma. On the 43rd day when I come out, surrounded by family and beautiful nurses, the first thing I ask, "Did anyone back the Snow Cat for me?" and everyone would enjoy a big laugh.

Right, except for the few times they’ve done an early bird offer. I think that really helped the Hiss back in little over a day. Plus being the first classified Haslab and being a natural army builder vehicle.

People are always hopeful they’ll throw something else in towards the end. The only times they’ve done that are with the Sentinel and the Skystriker. The Sentinel did better than expected and blew through all of their tiers too early. It was the first to offer tiered additions so they clearly underestimated. That caused them to add the Tri-sentinel head, which also got passed so the extra tentacle was the final good will gesture of it doing so well.

The Skystriker was the opposite. It was struggling to hit funding so the Cobra takeover was the push to get it over the finish line. It worked but the last original tier didn’t get met in the end.

Campaigns like this one are the ones that won’t see any additional stuff thrown in. It’s going to fund so there isn’t any incentive to attract more backers. It isn’t doing crazy well either and blowing through tiers too early so they’re not going to add anything unplanned. So the only real reward to backing early is that possibility of blowing through the tiers early enough to justify a new addition. Or to secure your order before an unexpected coma ;)

Oh man, Snow CAT! It was one of the few Joe vehicles I had as a kid, so the nostalgia pull for this is huge. And the ability to pull out the missile launcher and make it a troop carrier? Backed!

Showing this off at SDCC will garner some more interest and backers. As well if they reveal some other upcoming snow-themed items like figures and maybe the Polar Battle Bear ski-mobile.

White Hiss tank is a very classy vehicle to release around the midway point between the end of the Snow Cat's campaign and its release. I found one in my closet a few years ago and thought it looked really cool. I was legitimately surprised I had one.

I had no idea white HISS was a thing.

I don’t think I’d be enticed by more arctic vehicles. But gimme some more characters in arctic gear, and I’d have a very hard time saying no. Iceberg for sure, but I’d probably want more like Flint and LJ in coats. Bazooka, Shipwreck in knit cap and sweater, Baroness in all white.. that’s the kind of thing up my alley.
