I still don't know who Crystar or Warbow are

They are the decline of Marvel Legends as we know it. Or, if you're not asking SDComics, Crystar was a line of fantasy crystal-people action figures from Remco that, like most shit in the '80s, got a short-lived comic to flesh out the storyline. It was published by Marvel and somehow Marvel ended up owning Crystar entirely, or something. It's not important. What's important is some Crystar characters appeared in Secret War and some people got really excited and some people were Big Mad. And that continues to this day.

It is, in effect, the age old 'X-23 isn't a Legend' conversation.

Another female character would have been much more preferable to Spidey/Logan/IM in this BAF wave. Especially a character who will sell much better WITH a BAF piece.

So yeah, it's both fair to say that characters like Crystar and Warbow have basically no worthwhile pedigree in the comics, but also can command a lot of nostalgia with a certain age group regardless.

If I do follow through with my purchase of the entire wave (sans Wolverine), Warbow will go to an old friend who sold off his collection years ago but recently picked up Rom and Crystar. I was too old for the toys and never interested in the comics myself, but that’s his jam.

What this is really about is where we should be 12 years into the modern era of Hasbro Marvel Legends. The line lacks a coherent direction, and that’s why we still have more holes in our collections than a block of Swiss cheese.

I’m beginning to think that the best way to deal with this is to simply wait for a team to be completed before buying a team builder for the soul purpose of someday completing a team. For example, I only want the Target exclusive Outback Storm to complete the Outback X-Men. So why am I buying the figure now? So that I can be aggravated by every set of new reveals or leaked list that doesn’t include armored Psylocke? Look at all of those years we waited for the Inhumans to be completed. We could have just waited and rounded up all of them this month…and not had an extra Black Bolt and Medusa taking up space in our collections.

On the contrary, I believe the holes are the direction. I don't see any evidence in the entire history of Marvel Legends that -any- team has ever been interested in completing teams. At least not quickly. And it's probably fair to say that there's too much under the Marvel umbrella to do so unless you're willing to dismiss the possibility of doing other things at all for long periods of time.
You can sit with the list and say 'I would have done this instead of that' - but it's all subjective.

Definitely a tactic you can take. I think most people won't do this because the fear is that you'll miss out on that one character who either shoots up in value, or ends up being a lot rarer than expected, or whatever. Remember when the worst Marvel Legends figure ever -- S1 Toad -- went from being a dollar on clearance to one of the highest-value Marvel Legends figures?

Collecting is stupid. You just gotta decide which kind of stupid you enjoy the most.

Let me just say this again because these two points seem to keep getting lost:

I really don't care that Hasbro is making this Warbow dude. It's fine for anyone who knows who he actually is. What I care about is having to pay nearly 30 dollars for him so I can have a complete Executioner. I mean, I can settle for a one armed Executioner. Sure. I can just say Ares hacked his arm off or something. Or maybe I can find someone who has an extra arm. There might be someone out there. But no. I'm getting tired of this crap. If Hasbro gave Wolverine the BAF piece instead of Warbow we wouldn't even be having this conversation. At all. I would happily skip Warbow, buy the rest of the wave and that would be that. But they gave Warbow the BAF piece for one simple reason: He'd never sell without it. Never. He'd be the king of the peg warmers. He'd join Secret Wars Kang from the 1980's as one of the great peg warmers of all time. I mean, I get why Hasbro did it. It makes sound business sense. But that;s 30 bucks I could use to buy little unimportant things. Like food and shelter. You know. Trivial things like that.

The other thing: At SDCC, I had to listen to this "Asgardians and Serpent Society members are too obscure" stuff. But I guess Warbow's ... not? That kinda frosts my chaps too. "Too obscure for THEM" is I guess what they actually meant.

So after thinking about it for the last few hours, I've decided enough is enough. My Marvel Legends days are over. I'm done. It's just not worth it anymore. No, I'm not having a "meltdown" and Warbow's existence didn't "break" me (Whatever the fuck that means). Hasbro actually did me a huge favor. They're saving me a shitload of money, time and space.

And aggravation.

I mean, when I think of all that shit Hasbro has put their customers through. Remember the SDCC exclusive Savage Land set? I felt so sorry for you guys. I walked right up to the Hasbro booth at the show and bought one, but I remember what you guys who weren't there had to go through. Be up at like 3:00 AM or some nonsense so you could make your two minute window to get it on Pulse. That's just crazy. No one should have to go through that. If I were made toy emperor of the universe the first thing I would do is eliminate any kind of exclusive. If you're going to make a figure, make enough for everyone who wants one or don't make it. End of story.

I guess I'll never see that Golden Age Torch figure, assuming that's actually coming. But too bad so sad. They had 25 years to get that out. Heh. They missed their window.

Now I gotta figure out how I'm going to get rid of this shit. That'll be fun. But hey, when it's over, I'll have a lot more room. That'll be nice.

So no, not angry. Not upset. Kinda relieved and happy. This has been building up for a long time. Warbow was the straw that broke the camel's back. The Hasbro team are nice guys and I wish them the best, I really do. I don't know what the future of action figure collecting is, but it's not going to include me.

It's alright. I'm not going anywhere. @hmmberto, I can still give them the cards at SDCC if you still want to do that. I just won't go to the panel or look and see what they have on display. And I will be hanging around the Lounge. There's always going to be new movies and comics to talk about. Well, I shouldn't say that. There will be as long as there's an economy.

You know, hobbies are supposed to be fun and relaxing. They're supposed to be an escape from the stress of life. When your hobbies bring you more pain than they do joy, it's time to quit.

Back in my feces-flinging days, I admit I was one of those members who aggressively argued from that perspective. I felt that the line was called Marvel LEGENDS not Marvel NEWCOMERS or whatever, and that the character selection should reflect that. I think much of my disdain and resentment actually came from the fact I was being manipulated to purchase figures for which I had no desire in order to obtain the damn BaF part.
Anyway, after the Hasbro takeover and subsequent quality/value reduction and ML death-and-resurrection that ensued, I abandoned that insignificant hill and now very much appreciate the variety of offerings. Everyone's tastes deserve to be represented and produced even if it might mean segregating those figures into separate waves or lines (e.g., MCU).

Everybody should have a turn at getting their holy grail figure. Well, except for Panther Cult and M'baku. That's some racist shit. Lol

I think Marinna is still on the table.

Marrina was on one of the more recent rumor/leak lists from 6-18-25 that was on a store order sheet. I took that to mean she'd be released later in 2026. She did have BAF written next to her name, so safe bet is that she's part of the next BAF wave. Also mentioned with BAF after their names were: Ghost Rider, Wolverine ("latest comic version") and Hawkeye. I'm betting Hawkeye is actually Bullseye to add to or "finish" as Dan said the Dark Avengers.
Dwight did specifically mention 2 BAFs were on the way. I might actually lose it if it is an Avengers wave with Marrina and as an ocean character tie in Attuma or Orka is the BAF. With Stingray in the wave... and classic 1940s or early FF Kirby Namor.
Dwight also said that one of the upcoming BAFs is a team completer. Skurge doesn't not complete any teams besides his partnership with Amora. Attuma completes Red Skull's Cabal from the Avengers Assemble cartoon.

I completely agree that it would have been nice to have another female in this wave. Her inclusion would have made this wave even more of an Avengers wave since she is an honorary Avenger.

I actually do get that. I haven't completed a BAF since Juggernaut like.. 6 years ago or whatever that was. But what you're complaining about (I don't mean that negatively) isn't a new problem. The BAF has been with us for what.. 2 decades? And I think your complaint could really be leveled against any character in that set. If I want Executioner, why the fuck should I have to buy a Spider-Man I barely remember, a Logan that definitely does not match any source material I'm aware of, a top 10 ranking worst Iron Man armor ever, a wolf-guy I don't fucking care about at all....? Why can't I just buy Executioner?

I've been against the BAF program for a LONG time. Because it's ALWAYS a bad idea for the consumer, except those very rare whales that buy every single figure and are perfectly happy doing so.

In virtually every way. Dude, I'm a MOTU guy as much as a Marvel guy and Mattel has basically made me hate He-Man because of their stupid, ignorant, anti-consumer bullshit. I get it.

I think I did too. It was just different from yours. I really do collect for enjoyment now. I've made my peace with there being stuff I won't have, for whatever reason. I don't collect teams or universes anymore. I'm good with having seven Wolverine figures that I REALLY like and no Professor X, for example. I'll be so happy if they make a Kylun, but I feel no inclination at all to get the rest of Excalibur. But I'm also good with not buying figures that do exist if they exist in stupid ways. Either one day I'll find it on clearance or get a good deal or whatever, or I just won't have it.

I know not everyone is cool with that approach. But I am. I've loved action figures for my entire life. As long as it's financially viable for me to buy any at all, I will. But I'm good with being way more selective and letting go of ideas like 'complete collections' or even being too upset when I can't have a character I really want. If it doesn't happen... well... I have other toys that make me happy so I'll live and try not to stress over it.
