Selling Toys - Horror Stories & "Happy" Customers

Isn't there anyway to withhold at least some percentage of the return if the buyer doesn't return the item in the condition it was sent? Probably a bunch of eBay loopholes, but did you ask?

You're gonna have to call Ebay again. Don't give in to their idiocy and lies TO YOU, who is also their customer.

At the very least, if they made the buyer who caused the problem whole - and who has now STOLEN FROM YOU - demand they also make you whole at the very least. Don't give up or give in!

Agree with this 100%

You might have to attempt to recoup money from your carrier for a damaged item. It's shady, but years ago a guy said the DCUC Robin I sent him had a broken ankle. It wasn't broken when I sent it. The guy seemed nice enough so I refunded him and collected the insurance.

Yeah, so eBay has a system in place for "preferred sellers", which basically means if you A) offer free returns on everything or B) you're listed as a top seller (I'm not for some reason, even with 20+ years and 100% feedback), then you can claim up to 50% of the refund cost.

I have my listings marked as "no returns" and eBay has never given me a fancy title, so I guess I'm just out the full amount. I contacted them again through email, this was the gist of that:

Them: We take this very seriously! Rest assured, we value you. We recommend filing a report against the buyer.

Me: I've done that twice, already. The first time one of your guys told me to do it and what to say. (I go on with further info)

Them: Thank you for that. We take this very seriously! Rest assured, we value you. We recommend filing a report against the buyer.

Me: I did that! A few times! (explain it further)

Them: We appreciate you! At this time, if you are a preferred seller (blah blah blah, I'm not so it's meaningless). Otherwise, we recommend...

So I guess I'll wait until tomorrow and call back again. It really feels like it's all luck of the draw with who you get on the phone as to whether they will actually help you or not. This lady today even said that she saw no record of me contacting them previously, even though the second guy I talked to was able to pull up the transcript from the first guy I talked to. I hate eBay.
