NECA Mirage Comics line

Cracked open a few figures tonight and kinda feeling a bit of fool me once, fool me twice with NECA. Renet's elbows are SO frozen, debating if shock oil is needed or if I just need to really pour on the heat. Both Casey and Renet have a bicep swivel that won't move and I'm afraid I'm gonna snap the joint (doused both in boiling water for a bit which freed up the OTHER bicep joint on each, but both still have one stuck). (Edit: through way more heat, I was able to loosen up one of each elbow joint for Renet and both of their biceps but I was sure I was going to break them.) Mechanic Don is a little stiff but otherwise good (one bicep swivel was TOUGH), but Hunter Leo's short blade sheath snapped mostly off right out of the package, and I think I did some self-inflicted damage to his poncho putting him under some hot water to loosen up stiff joints. So weird after Old Man Raph was absolutely perfect.

Is there a year or wave when things got noticeably better in terms of QC I should avoid buying before? Aside from whatever happened with Hunter Leo the new turtles have been mostly perfect, but man those two older figures do not want to pose.

I haven't had too many QC issues with any Mirage figures until Karai. They really need to work out a better system for attaching shoulder pads. Both her and the toon Dark Leo are impossible to articulate those arms without the pad coming off because they are attached to the shoulder. They need to do like Hasbro sometimes and attach them to the main torso or their clothing.

I had to reglue them both on but my super glue gel had turned more gel than glue so it didn't hold on either. I finally used blu-tack.

It was mostly just paint or the wash jamming up the joints, but it was touch and go for a bit there trying to get them to move. Still can't get Renet 100% but she's at least posable now. The sheath on Leo snapped at the connectors so I just gorilla glued it back in place. I'm sure it'll break again later but it's fine for now.

So I have a question about the Foot Assassin figure. Is this the version of the Foot Elite that acted as the personal Bodyguard to Karai in City at War? It’s been a few years since I’ve read the mirage comics but I always remember there was one member of the Elites who was very distinctive from the rest. I can’t seem to find anything about this particular version on TMNTpedia though

Foot Elite Assassin are from Leo Micro (tried to kill Leo) and City at War (big buff Foot Ninjas that were trying to take over the clan, and attempted to assassinate Karai), but the Foot Elite Guard I don't believe is anything from the original run. They're just Foot Ninja with the wrong head and finally accurate arms (excluding first appearance and City at War for differing reasons).

Got the single Mirage Michelangelo today to try to square my wrong-box Raph and I now definitely have two unique figures (Donnie's en route). Question - which one is really Mike vs. Raph since the art on the back of the box flip flops them? One has a downturned mouth and more scarred up shell than the other (both gritting their teeth). I kinda reckon the one who looks like he's taken extra hits and dings would be Raph (looks a bit angrier too) but just curious how others are displaying them.

You're right, the scuffed shell, frowning face is Raph. Mike is supposed to be the smiling one. Though not the happy Cowabunga face of the toon, more like he's thrilled to kick your ass smiling.

That makes sense. Of courke Mike comes with hands that kinda look like they belong with Raph (wider split between the fingers that could be for when he holds his sais that way) but I noticed Raph comes with open hands, Leo with fists, and Mike with slightly open hands so assuming each turtle comes with one set of hands that works for the others too. Clever cost saving by NECA there.

Immediately swapped in the bandaged arm for Raph because I love the idea of him always looking that much more beat to hell than his brothers.

I think if you pop the head off each one is stamped with the first initial of the turtle. At least that was the case with the four pack.

UPS just dropped off Leatherface Leatherneck Leatherhead and I was NOT prepared for how huge this guy was when I got it in hand.

I'm really glad I split my Mirage collection over two shelves recently now because he wouldn't have even remotely fit.

Ha, I thought the same thing. Mine showed up too, and the box is like twice the size of the April I still haven't opened.

And the tail is so long. He's going to take up a huge amount of shelf real estate. I may need to charge him rent.

Three attempts at spelling Leatherhead just made my night, Justice. Thanks for the sincere laugh, that got me good.
