NECA Mirage Comics line

Hunter Leo might be my second NECA turtle ever right after Old Man Raph. I wish he were one penny more so I could get free shipping. I keep debating if I should add Van Helsing Splinter to the cart because I love both Van Helsing and Splinter.
I always just grab something I know I'll need eventually like toothpaste. They always end up shipping them separate too which means there can't be much profit margin on the 99 cent box of candy I paired with the Jack Skellington I bought last Christmas.

Old Man Raph arrived tonight and... man, I LOVE this figure. Like I immediately went looking for more NECA turtles like him. Hunter Leo is in my cart right now and I'm just debating adding Mechanic Don or not. I'm blown away by how much NECA has improved their turtles since I bought the movie versions years ago. Any recommendations for must haves? the Last Ronin stuff looks amazing but I've always held off worrying about scale or quality. Would love to get some suggestions for comics figures to keep an eye out for!

One question - the button / hook of Raph's cloak is a little loose, tends to pop open so it falls off his neck/shoulders. I don't want to glue it but any recommendations for... ahem... tightening the hole to make it stay put?

Found the classic colors Foot Elite Assassin in-store this morning, thus completing Haulathon for me.

I love the 4pk on which these single turtles are based but it's not easy to come by these days. I can totally recommend the Last Ronin stuff. If you want just the boys, Leo, Don, and Mike are making their way into Targets now. Raph should still be easy to find. These are the flashback versions within the story. The Last Ronin himself may be tougher to find these days, but any version is excellent. And of course, there's the Stump Wrestling 4pk, and those figures are also excellent. There will be a release of the standard turtles in Stan Sakai's style soon.

I've been eyeballing the flashback Last Ronin figures for DAYS since most if not all are readily available on the Target site (unarmored Last Ronin is actually discounted!). I may have to get the boys and Granny April.

I moved the Stump Wrestling pack in and out of my cart for like a week and finally caved and ordered it just yesterday. I actually read the Stump Wresting story arc as it was being published back in the old Archie days so man, that stuff hits a nostalgia nerve, but I was iffy about NECA's toyetic-ness til I got Old Man Raph (I hadn't bought NECA turtles since that first round of movie turtles and I thought they were beautiful but brittle). They feel like they've come a long way.

The Stump turtles are the best turtles they've made so far. Very sturdy and good articulation by their standards. The Last Ronin turtles are some of their best in terms of sculpt and paint. I only have the standard Last Ronin though as I just don't have the space to go in on that line. The Mirage turtles are also solid. Articulation from the waist down is pretty good, I just wish they had better shoulders and wrists.

So hey, what's the best way to pick up the Mirage-style "Return to New York turtles? I stumbled across a couple of them on the Haulathon box at Target tonight and impulse bought them and now I want the quartet. Hilariously, I found Leo and then Raph stuck on a shelf in another section... but it's Michelangelo in a box with all of Raph's accessories! I'm going to have to return this goddamned figure so I get the right stuff, aren't I.

Any recommendation for the best way to make sure I get the right figures if I try to pick up the rest elsewhere? It's funny, I actually posted this thinking it was just Raph in a Mike box but the wrong figure at full price, that's gotta go back to the store.

Someone who has bought the singles may be able to confirm, but I thought I heard that Mikey and Raph got switched at the factory. Mikey is supposed to have the smile while Raph gets the grimace, but they got flipped somehow and it's probably because they are basically the exact same figure. You may want to hang onto it until you get a Michelangelo. NECA's own listing seems to back this up. He's in-stock, but they charge 10 bucks for shipping so you would probably want to add more to your order:

I said I wasn't going to but I am weak...so weak. I picked up the 4 pack of the Turtles in their gangster looks or whatever we are calling them. Then I also got April (even though I had the old Mirage April) and then Karai. I was trying to keep the Mirage stuff to one already very crowded shelf. And THEN I ordered the Leatherhead too so now that shelf is definitely going to need to get split into two shelves.

I'm drawing the line though and not getting the workshop Donnie or whatever other very similar variants they are doing OR the black and white. Not gonna happen Neca! :cautious:

Thanks for this info - I got Michelangelo's figure with Raph's accessories in Mike's box. Don's sold out on NECA's own site and so is Raph so... I kinda need to see a real pic of the figure i'm buying to know for sure.

Y'know what's even funnier, is in their own marketing photos, sometimes they have Mike wearing Raph's gear switched back and forth, like they couldn't even tell their own figures apart. There's different linework on the shells so i can see the different but I imagine that's almost impossible for rushed factory workers to catch.

This is why "different colored bandanas" is a hill I will always be willing to die on.

It a hill I accept all arguments on, because the original all-red (well, all black and white!) Mirage comics broke my brain as a kid and I'll always love them, but I was young enough when the animated stuff came out that I also love the different color bandanas. In this particular case though, the all red is making my collecting life REALLY frustrating.

I found Leatherhead and Ronin Casey with bike today. I think I'vr seen all Haulathon stuff at least once except Mirage April for some reason.
