NECA - General Thread

I went on BBTS this morning and was excited to see NECA releasing 40th anniversary Aliens figures. I was quickly disappointed to discover that this for some reason doesn't include the actual main character of the movie, Ripley, even though they are re-releasing the power loader (with no figure to drive it). Guess I'll just pass on all of it then (though someday I might finally pull the trigger on a Queen).

Yeah, all the Alien stuff on BBTS is what was available on their site over the weekend, you just aren't charged for it yet. Kinda wish I'd known they were gonna be available elsewhere; probs would've saved myself the charge (and NECA's possibly bad customer service) but that's fine.

I know I missed the Ultra-mate talk, but I think the bases would probably be the only thing that would really get me to join in on a higher price point. I don't use a lot of the alternate heads and things as-is. They're nice to have, but I don't often switch them out. But I do miss the NECA of old that had all the interconnecting diorama pieces and such.

Add ultra-mate/ultra-mit to popular toy brand pronounciations I've heard.

Mah-fex/May-fex
Block-ees/Bloke-ees
Jah-duh/Jay-duh
Neck-ah/Neek-ah
Has-bro/Has-blow
SH-Fig-u-arts/SH-Figure-Farts

I made the last one up, but have you seen some of those waists and crotches lately?

Cool that they're re-releasing the loader & Queen. And is this the fist time we're getting an all-black warrior? Or was the one in the Hadley's Hope 2-pack all black? I cant remember. It'd be nice if the put the marines back out, I feel like that's what people want.

Hopefully they use better plastic nowadays... My old power loader crumbled apart after some years on display...

So the Ducktales figures go up for pre-order later today… but instead of being two packs with one adult and one child duck per pack like Trevor said they would be at Toy Fair they’re now “Ultimate” adult ducks as single packs (with a super meger amount of accessories for what will surely be a $38 to $46 figure…) and a three pack (more like a THREE QUACK, amirite, folks?!) of the children… who have the accessories after thought packs ins would have (am I expected to buy multiple packs or wait for an accessories set so one of them doesn’t have an expression of shitting their pants in terror in a neutral stance on my shelf)

If this isn’t the absolute confirmation “Ultramate” is just “what an Ultimate was ten years ago but for $60” and “Ultimate is a meaningless term I don’t know what is (I guess our first “Ultramate” reveal, but right now we’re just watching the icegerg slowly tear into ships hull and saying “eh, they’re probably not gonna make one of the highest grossing movies of all time about this… maybe we get Hartigan finally?!”)

Really? What specifically happened to it? I've had mine on a shelf since the first release and haven't noticed anything, but I don't really take my figures down and mess with them basically at all.

All the little connectors for the tubes went first, just crumbled apart. I caught it when i noticed some tubes starting to disconnect. Then one of the arms snapped at the shoulder joint with the slightest movement. It got put away after that, god knows what shape it's in now.

Nice that yours is still good! Maybe mine was a more isolated event? I have had problems with Neca plastic before though, so it wasn't a shock honestly.
