NECA - General Thread

My older NECA (like the Kill Bill sets) and whoever made the second Buffy figures (was that DST) are the poster figures for disintegrating plastic.

Just powdered and fairy dusted into the wind with age.

I've had a set of Clive Barker's Tortured Souls figure I've been afraid to open for years for that same reason. And because I'm not sure I want them on public display. :)

Ohhh yeah, the McFarlane stuff... I have a buddy that has the old Iron Maiden McF figures still sead. I told him "dont you dare open those!!!"

Though to be fair, my old McFarlane Monsters (not the playsets, which I do think I still have packed away somewhere, but the various classic archetypes he McFarlane-d up) are still intact and standing tall.

I’m in for DuckTales, but I’m disappointed in the lack of accessories for Gizmo Duck. Didn’t Trevor say the panels open up so you can add attachments? Did I imagine that? An accessory pack later, maybe…

Also in for Ducktales, but man, does it hurt seeing what were sold as pack-ins two months ago (I know that the month is almost over, but Jesus H Christ how is ONLY April?!) now a separate $40 item…

It’s like a reverse BAF, you buy three figures… then can buy the fourth figure you were supposed to assemble for free

I agree. There’s no way I am not getting them and I really hope they do Rescue Rangers as well but man the price point for what you get is rough.

Funny story when my oldest daughter was in preschool (I think it was 2011) we got a concerned call from her teacher. She was worried that our daughter had created an imaginary friend because she was runny around the playground talking to Gadget and Zipper. We laughed and laughed and explained to the teacher it was an old 90s show. She would watch the kitten episode over and over and over.

I still have all the Funko Ducktales figures. They were fun for their time. I'm still satisfied with those. Don't need $40 versions, as cool as they look. Disney Afternoon is a rabbit hole I must avoid.

...though I would be curious to see how the NECA figures scale with the Diamond Select Darkwing Duck figure... (not that I have that one, but if I did, I'd be way more tempted on NECA's Ducktales)

The more I think about it the more I think this is more of a business decision than a cost one. Coming out of Toy Fair, I heard nothing but praise for NECA's DuckTales and if there was a winner of the show I feel pretty confident it would have won. NECA probably saw that response and figured "If people want this, why are we giving away these figures for free as a pack-in accessory?" Costs have gone up since then, but not so much that they were suddenly under water by more than 10 bucks a unit.
