NECA - General Thread

I don't think I'm willing to pay more for bases and the like. They feel like something that could be left out in favor of lower prices, to me, and I never end up using them.

I never did get a Power Loader, so I ordered one from BBTS. $10 more than neca, though.

I'm guessing this is just a new SKU that is more or less what ultimates were five years ago. Most of their ultimate releases aren't really living up that description (e.g. an ultimate Grover should come with Super Grover parts, Leonardo should come with a portrait where his fucking eyes are open, etc.) and I'm guessing the window box design we saw with the TMNT/Usagi figures will be the new $38-40 SKU and this new one will be $50+. Which is whatever, costs are what they are, but this rebranding sounds stupid. Just make the existing product live up to the name - whatever it costs.
 
I'm assuming Ultramate is gonna be an upscale figure line? I mean, Neca has a good formula for years, why reinvent the wheel Randy?
If it involves more accessories (maybe a articulated Doberman dog) im in lol

I have to agree that these will just be what Ultimates were 10 years ago and now are just ‘basics.’ Three heads, some hands, and a balloon make Pennywise ‘ultimate’ now when he just has red paint up to his nose? Suuuure.

Why are we assuming Randy is driving this? It was my impression that some of NECA's questionable marketing failures over the last few years, like TMNT Loot Crate and AutoT, were directives from NECA's parent company and CEO. Who is to say this is any different?

Just given the name alone and the fact that the first piece of information they feel the need to communicate is how to pronounce it, seems to me to fall into the same category of questionable marketing ideas. On the other hand, we are talking about, so I guess that is the point...
 
Am I the only one who would love Neca to make Proyect Hail Mary figures? A two-pack of Grace in his EVA spacesuit and Rocky would be amazing.
