NECA '87 Toon TMNT

My first two TMNT figures were Splinter and Shredder. They were the first toys I ever spent my own money on too. My grandparents gave me money for my birthday and all I wanted was TMNT but the only figures my parents were able to find were Splinter and Shredder.

My first turtles were Leo and Don. I think I got them with birthday money in '88. My first villain would end up being Krang in his walker, if I'm remembering correctly. I wore out the swords on my original Leo because I played with him so much. Good times.

I didn't pick up anything in the Target drop. 65 bucks for Creepy Eddie and Ghost ninja guy just doesn't appeal to me. Some people on the other side of the country are finding Panda Khan. I'll probably get him if I come across him. Haven't seen what the MSRP on that one is though.

I wonder if that means Panda Khan won't be? With news that Mirage April was going up, I was hoping to pair her with Panda Khan. I could also probably just play the waiting game as both are bound to show up at Target near me and probably not sell especially fast. Only thing giving me pause is one of the two Targets close by appears to be phasing out NECA. Nothing new has shown up in the NECA section for months and there's no sign of Haulathon anywhere. It sucks because it used to be the "good" Target.
 
I set a reminder so I managed to snag Shredder this morning. Looks like a nice improvement over the old one.

I'm mostly done with the toon line, but couldn't pass this one up.
 
Ended up ordering 2 after reading about the helmet misalignment issues. We'll see if they go through, I'm glad I went back to order another one because my first order was cancelled for "Technical issue". It was the first time I'd ever bought an item from Target without going to the cart, so maybe that was the problem.
 
I'm super bummed. I haven't seen any of the new figures popping up on AliExpress, which is basically the only place to get these if you're in Canada. Seems like whatever well NECA figures were coming out of over there has dried up.
 
Was able to catch toon Shredder this morning, as well as Mirage April. Added the new Leatherface (Texas Chainsaw, not Leatherhead!) and was able to get $15 off with a Circle offer I had.

This post reminds me that I always have to pause a minute before talking about Leatherface, Leatherhead, or Leatherneck and really think about who is who.
 
This Shredder is SUCH an improvement over the original figure.
I got the rerelease of the first version when he was repacked at Target, but this new one is leaps and bounds better.

I didn't get the astronaut/samurai 2 pack, but I am sorely tempted to check eBay for loose samurai figures to swap extra heads from other turtles onto, to pair with this guy.
