And the first wave of the turtles themselves had the heads pulled cause of trying to keep everything at the ultimate price point. Shit sucks, but this is the world we're in. I agree that rising costs are hitting everything, but NECA proves themselves liars already about cost being the reason as the black and white 4-pack WITH the accessory set cost the same as the 4 Ultimates without. So they could have put those accessories with the original figures.

Cut extra stuff like Kraangs, episode specific accessories, etc. Yeah, I get that. It sucks but most won't be that bothered. The alternate heads for the turtles and the gloves for Casey absolutely should have been included.

That said, these will never hit the UK so I pre-ordered off NECA. Threw in the Triceraton Commando as I hadn't already ordered him. At least this way I get the commando for no extra shipping cost.

No, I don't think that's true at all. The black and white set saves them money by being a repaint set, all the tooling is done, so putting the accessories with that probably costs out better than trying to shove them in with Ultimates, thereby raising the price of the Ultimates.
 
I don't know all the logistics, but I would image NECA keeps more of the profit selling exclusives at MSRP on their site versus selling them first to retailers for less. So I wouldn't use that as evidence of them lying about costs either.
 
Pretty sure a lot of us bought the figures from NECA direct so they made all the profit there as well. Plus they'd have greater economies of scale with the wider release.

Sure, and then re-use the molds for exclusives where they again get all the profit. Spread out the mold cost, like we're all familiar with. Still doesn't indicate a lie. They've been doing the direct sales thing a lot more the last couple years, they're clearly trying to find ways to make more profit, both because a lot of circumstances we're all familiar with have been hitting the industry and because, well, they're a business.
 
Maybe, maybe not. I'd say you could argue the smaller run of the black and white exclusives balances out against the larger run of the originals in terms of cost. Plus if they always planned to double dip with the molds that cost was already planned to be spread. So they could have put the accessories with the main releases.

Plus look at Casey's load out compared with the rest. We don't know exactly what was cut but he looks light compared with the others so it's fair to say they likely cut too much, especially if that includes the gloves.
 
I have no idea what NECA's profit margins are. I'm sure Trevor is given a budget for each release and it is what it is. Where someone in his position should push back (and I'm not saying he didn't) is when it comes to stuff that feels pretty essential for the character like Casey's gloves. If you have to go from $38 to $42 to make it work then just do it. Collectors will still gripe about it online, but it's a hell of a lot better than sticking necessary accessories in with another figure or some black and white variant. You can't even pretend that this is somehow the "ultimate" version of the character as it stands. Where everyone still has an absolutely legitimate complaint with this line is NECA sticking the alternate Leo head in this accessory pack. That was a dick move and the eyes closed expression should have been in the accessory set, not the general release.
