MONDO Masters of the Universe 1/12 and 1/6

I just did it out of morbid curiosity at it was like $950. Yeah that’s an easy decision not to make lol
I did the same after posting. Now Mondo is emailing me that I forgot something in my cart. Mondo is going to have to try harder to get me to buy that, like a 75% off coupon.

I have quite a few of the 1/6 MOTU. I really like the sculpts but also am kind of disappointed with them. So not sure why I keep occasionally buying them.

I think 1/6 is just kind of hard to get right. The plastic they use is quite dense so a lot of them feel pretty too heavy. They stand fine in neutral poses, generally, but don’t quite pass muster as great toys.

Tons of fiddly bits and the articulation is not amazing. They’re just not as fun as most 1/12 figures imo.

Kind of looking forward to the 1/12 line but mondo tends to make everything like a little more expensive than a “I’d buy that asap” for me and I always have to about it.

I used to collect mezco One:12 and stopped because I realized it was pissing me off more than I was enjoying it, and mondo gives me similar (but lesser) vibes

That's why I stopped collecting Mondo 1/6th. That first He-Man and Faker were so frustrating to even pose. The handles kept falling off the shields and everything was just fiddly.

It's the articulation for me.

You're doing plastic, so you don't have the Hot Toys excuse. Let me pose them up.
Might be a hair off topic but I really liked the 1/6 Marvel Legends for that that they did like 7 or 8 years ago. They were like 50 bucks, and had sort of hollow torsos and big feet which felt sort of cheap, but worked really well for posing because you could actually balance them in a decent pose.

Ok, I'm not the biggest MOTU mark as the cartoon came out when I was 15 and had a 1 track mind that was not cartoons or toys. Having said that, I did buy a lot of the MOTU Classics figures. Now that I've seen the paint work on the 1:12 Real Ghostbusters, pretty sure I'm going to be all in on this line, even though due to tarrif's they backed off on the "They will be less than the Ghostbusters".

So they’ll be $100 a pop? Still gonna pass on this. Mattel is making 200X figures, so that’ll satisfy me. I have so many options, so many MotU collections at this point, skipping this one feels easy. Not the case with RGBs. At least I don’t foresee more options for that IP.

The 1/12 Mondo ones are too good for me to skip. I don't care about 200X animated accuracy, I absolutely was hoping Mondo would spice up the designs with their own flavoring, so I couldn't be happier with what we've seen. Also helps that I don't have any of the previous collections like a lot of you do. Mostly just Masterverse stuff, which I will also continue with.

I never thought I’d have as many MotU collections as I do. I originally passed on most Classics until I cherry picked a few and shit started showing up at discount stores and clearance on Matty Collector. That collection blew up.

Then I got into ReActions. And MegaBlox. Then Origins and Mastercard (Masterverse) launched. Heck, I even collect the Mythic Legions tributes. I guess I’m not as casual a MotU fan as I thought.

It’s easier to go down a rabbit hole for me if I’ve started from the beginning of the line. When Mattel relaunched with wide release retail, forget about it. I got hooked, based on accessibility alone.

Yeah, I timestamped this link where they hinted that these are likely going to be pricier than they originally hinted at. Pretty sure there's other clips of them basically saying the same thing.

Haha, Mastercard indeed!

And I totally get the thing about falling in when a line begins. Definitely happening to me with a few right now...

We're nearing the end of Mondo's Toy Talk stream tonight, and they're showing off articulation and such on some early 1/12 prototypes. Might be easier to just wait til it's over and skip through with thumbnails to the last few minutes though? Clawful is enormous.

EDIT: The 1/12 talk starts at about 1:02:45
