From Mondo's Toy Talk this week.
Started with some Donatello updates. They showed the packaging and it looked great. Art by Aaron Conley on the front, same art (minus the character) for the insert which can be removed and used as a backdrop. Each turtle will have a unique backdrop. Front flap has a "story so far" setting up the Mondoverse and unfolds for a 2 page comic. Comics will be unique for each release, continue the story and show where each character is up to at this point. Don's is his fight with the Mousers and creation of the Mousebros.
They later added that Don will be shipping sooner than expected and to look for updates over the next few months.
Leo they showed the prototype and some behind the scenes development artwork and images.
So this Leo has basically embraced being a ninja and is becoming a master in his own right. He's still the leader but has also gone in his own direction, going out solo at night, being a ninja. The 4 bandana colors wrapped around his sword sheath are to show he's always thinking about his brothers and they're with him even when he's out solo. He's still good but he's older, has a bit more of an edge (like the more intimidating masked look). For his look they were inspired by games like Shinobi and Ninja Gaiden from the 90s. The hood and cape are wired.
As mentioned before Don made his Odachi, it has a heated blade for cutting down Foot tech. The Kawasaki Ninja bike trigger fits the idea of Don using found tech but also an Easter egg to Kevin Eastman sponsoring Kawasaki Ninja races back then as well. The kusarigama also has a Don tech look and the weight at the end of the chain is the end of the ooze canister which is a nice touch. Other weapons, the mask, etc. are all stuff handed down from Splinter. Fits with the idea of Leo dedicating himself to his ninja training and mastering more than just the katana, and the idea of him being a leader, learning this so he can teach the others of needed. The details on them look really nice.
The meditation head can't eye swap (so can't use the closed eyes with Don). The chest is soft and the shell is hard so there's a decent range of motion for the body. He can almost do the splits, double knee joints but acts more like single joints due to the knee pads (they say they chose looks over articulation).
Leo's belt looks cleaner/more polished than Don's. Leo is a ninja master who looks after his gear, Don spends his time in a messy lab, idea is personality comes through in their unique looks. Skin tones are all same family of green but not identical.
Roadkill Rodney has it's own stand and the wheel moves. They were inspired by the old video games so that's why he's included. Arms are articulated (bendy). Don's mousers are meant to look beat up whilst Roadkill Rodney is clean and fresh off the production line at the Technodrome.
They confirmed Shredder is next and then the other turtles (which we knew from last time). No surprise, given they'll want to make a figure, but they also confirmed Splinter is alive in the Mondoverse.
