Mini Comic Wave 2

I didn't pay much attention to the first mini comic wave, but were the figures tied into famous covers or just "whatever worked?" If we're going by covers, I would guess the most famous cover featuring Beast is the Amazing Adventures with the gray Beast. There's also crying Beast from the New X-Men era and the alt from X-Men #1. If that isn't a concern they could obviously find a cover for any version of the character they make (including a human version), those were just the first images that come to mind.
It was a mix of comic covers prominently featuring that character/costume, and covers of a famous issue featuring that character where their presence on the cover isn't really the focal point. Iron Man, Miles, and Rom fell into the solo cover category, whereas Banshee came with GSXM #1, Warlock came with Infinity Gauntlet #1, and Daken came with Dark Avengers #1 - all covers featuring groups.

If it's Astonishing Beast then we're definitely getting Astonishing #1. Rachel we already saw comes with Excalibur #1, and Feral likely with X-Force #1.

Will definitely be in for the Daredevil. Would really like the "bigfoot" Beast, but also would have trouble turning down the Perez version. If not Yelana, wondering what they will do with Black Widow?

I hope they can give the spinner rack this time around, though. With 12? comics now, we're gonna need somewhere to put them!

I'd take the spinner rack, depending on how much cost it added... basically as BAF parts?

However, I'd be fine if this 2nd wave was also the last of this mini-comic gimmick. It doesn't really do anything for me, personally. I'd much rather have an actual printed comic or mini-comic or a redemption code for an online comic through marvel.com. If we have to choose between the tiny little mini-comic, BAF parts or an extra head/hands then that little mini-comic would be the absolute last thing I'd choose.

Snooze wave and if the spinner isn't coming, they should drop the pretense that the "comics" are value-adds.

I'm in for Feral day one, will see if a couple others hit clearance.

He's a spaceman surfing the cosmos. What could be cooler than that? It's my dream job.

I mean... it might be cool to be the Silver Surfer (minus the 'assist in global genocide over and over' part)... but I don't find his adventures intersting at all. He's got very little personality, and so much power that any threat he faces has to also be stupid powerful. I've tried reading Silver Surfer led stories and just never liked 'em.

The trash?

Banshee isn’t even on the cover of GS X-Men 1

I mean the gimmick at least lets them cast a wide net over all of Marvel. Just don’t need the comic

LOL

I could appreciate the comics as part of a diorama piece with the spinner rack, I love 1/12 furniture, and a spinner rack is a fairly niche thing to have. But the comics on their own are little more than things to get tossed in a baggy in the accessories bin.

And, personally? I'd probably end up just printing scaled down versions of my actual favorite comics and covers instead, and just using those instead, if we had a 1/12 spinner rack.

Granted, TheSameIdiot does have more personality than Norrin Radd.

This might get me to bite on Silver Surfer:

I'm very uninterested in this lineup but loved the first series. The mini-comics are kinda neat I guess, but as a comic fan I loved the packaging honoring those books and the figures were great. Miles and Iron Man were excellent figures so if they make the figures interesting then I could go for it. With FF having some spotlight now I possibly could get Silver Surfer. Daredevil will depend on how we looks.

Honestly, these work better as "litter" and sewer reading material that I toss into my TMNT displays. Dunno anything else to do with them than give them to teenage boy characters.

Hey Hasbro, notice how your target audience is split between thinking the mini comics are cool, and thinking they are trash?
Considering how cheap they must be to manufacture, I suggest you sell them in era/themed assortment packs on Pulse. Put 8 or 10 in a pack and charge like, $7.99 for them. I expect the profit margins would be ridiculously lucrative regardless of how many units you sell.
Personally, I think they're kind of cool but I have no need for them, use for them, desire to collect them, or have them accompany my ML figures.
However, if you offered say, a 10 pack of classic Byrne and/or Cockrum X-Men covers, I'm not gon' lie; I'd be tempted to buy a set. Same goes for virtually any sets of bronze era covers of Spider-Man, or Hulk, or Avengers etc.. I don't know what I'd do with them, but even I would probably buy some. I virtually guarantee if you make a set of 90s era Jim Lee X-Men covers or McFarlane Spider-Man covers, there is a a subset of collectors who would eat them up. Then, you move in and sell the spinner racks for 15.99 each. Just sayin'. ...Ka-Chingggg!!

*Message me for an address to which you should send my 2% profit cut.
