Just announced at the McF panel: IMAGE ELITES!!

Starting in January:

Spawn
Savage Dragon (!!)
Spartan (WildCATS)(!!!!!!)
Witchblade
Shadowhawk
Prophet

Savage Dragon is an absolute must for me, maybe Spawn too depending on how I’m feeling. (I have the Kickstarter one, but this might be nicer…)

I can already tell Witchblade is going to be a disappointment since the image on the slide appears to be wearing a full body suit of some sort not the bikini armor you picture when one says “think of Witchblade!”

I feel like that Spawn is what I actually wanted the KS Spawn to be. And I'll probably buy it if I see it. Whether I ever see it is a different story. -Mildly- interested in a Witchblade and a Spartan. We'll have to see how they turn out.

Mostly why I'm not buying the Witchblade figure, it doesn't resonate with the 90s character model to me. Looks like a full body condom quite literally, I dunno why semi-transparent white was the chosen color, I'd think black would be better graphically and given its relation to The Darkness etc. If they want to cover her up they should just do a Detective Penzinni version of the character. That, to me, would be preferable.

Do Elite figures come with more hands or heads or whatever to justify the price? I know the Batman Returns didn't despite whatever it's "technical" classification was.

Of the revealed characters, I'd only get Savage Dragon. I know he was rather top-heavy in design but I feel McFarlance exaggerated it even more. Much like he did with the animated DC figures. Hopefully, a Savage Dragon in police uniform is made as well, since I find that look really cool. A metahuman dressed in a police uniform is rather distinctive.

100%, I wanted a fully articulated Spawn figure, and got a... slightly articulated statue with an unwieldy cape.

I like this lineup. I wish it were 1/12 because my indie comics figure collection is all 1/12, but I'll cope with it. I'm ecstatic that we have a new Dragon figure FINALLY. Cloth cape Spawn is insanely overdue, and Witchblade COULD be cool if they do the OG design. I also want Jackie, but I doubt he'll be in this line-up.

Oh Yeah! Something like what Palisades did with the “Witchblade Animated” figure where she’s in her street clothes but has the full gauntlet arm (it could even be a swappable arm to make her just regular normal walking around human version and justify the “Elite” price tag) that would be so much cooler than a compromise full body armor no one asked for!

Of the revealed characters I'm the most excited for Shadowhawk. Always loved that character design. I am also excited about Savage Dragon and Prophet. I can skip the others.

The announcements were made yesterday at the McFarlane Toys panel at NYCC that Todd would be producing an Image Founders line of figures consisting of:

Spawn
Prophet
Witchblade
Savage Dragon
Spartan
Shadowhawk

A separate announcement was made regarding the character Geiger from Geoff Johns Ghost Machine comic line. I would guess that if Geiger does well, more figures will follow as Ghost Machine seems to be selling well and expanding rapidly.

There will be a wide and deep hole to fill when he loses DC. Could Image do that?

I agree. It can’t fill the hole. It may have been possible with Invincible. But Invincible is off the table now.

Y’know, Todd started out making figures from other creators. Youngblood, WetWorks, Danger Girls, etc. Also some one offs like Maxx, Shadowhawk, Marv from Sin City and Cry for Dawn. I always felt Todd should’ve pursued this course, almost as a clearing house for high profile creators to make their own characters into figures. Be it Image, Dark Horse, or whoever. Image creators getting better terms. Invincible alone could’ve sustained him for years. Add in Savage Dragon, Extreme Studios (or whatever it’s called now), Millarworld, and Ghost Machine could close the gap a bit.

Would you buy a full line of 7” articulated Walking Dead figures? Black and white with full color variants. How about Sin City? Not just Marv. Hellboy would be the dream. Along with Astro City of course. I’ve never understood why Todd didn’t engage.
