McFarlane DC Multiverse

Got Rebirth Batman in from the McF store and Batman Inc. from eBay today.

Rebirth is all reuse, of course, but cape is actually quite nice, but no wire. I think I can do the same mod as the NML Bats from earlier this year.

Inc. has a new head sculpt that I quite like, though it’s back to that fused neck design, like 3 Jokers or Hush. The yellow light effect from his chest emblem is actually pretty subtle in hand, so I might just leave it alone. Cape also has no wire, but seems to have the opening for the same mod.

All in all, a couple of decent figures, good not great. Have Returns Batman on the way also, looking forward to that one.

Was just listening to the Jazz Inc stream from a couple of weeks ago for the 1/12 89' Batwing crowd fund, and apparently Jack Nicholson has stopped giving permission for toys and figures with his likeness. If this is accurate, a McFarlane figure isn't going to happen.
Gives credence to the claim that McFarlane is pursuing doing an 89 Joker based off the promotional literature / comics / print tie-ins in lieu of an exact Nicholson Joker figure. I have to wonder if Jack's estate will likely cash in once he is no longer making those yea vs. nay decisions on his likeness.

The lack of wired cape is such a frustrating cost cut. That shiny, rigid cape material only works if you have a wire, otherwise it’s infinitely worse than the soft plastic capes we used to get.

The new cape/cowl were the main reasons I got that figure…guess I’ll try and mod it also.

Batman Returns wave Reviews:

They all look pretty dang good. Really excited to see they're trickling out; I'm eagerly awaiting my MTS order.

Can't quite tell if Catwoman has any articulation in the waist- could of course be hidden by the corset, but it's hard to tell. Still, she looks great otherwise. The lack of battle damaged head is a bummer, but I still just love the Pfeiffer version so much, that I'm just happy to have her at all.

This time tomorrow afternoon we’ll be discussing what Todd shows at NYCC. That’s a given. We all know Todd loves to one up his competitors with his reveals. Except given what we’ve seen today from the Hasbro Marvel Legends team, I don’t think Todd will be able to one up them this time around. Inhumans, Phantom Rider, and Werewolf by Night (classic), all look pretty spectacular. Sometimes I wish I’d gone with MLs back in the day.

To be honest, these all look pretty dang fantastic. I am not a movie figure collector, but Returns is my favorite Batman movie - I haven't been excited to receive a wave in some time - these cannot get here soon enough. These have me rethinking my display.

All I'm going after tomorrow is some Batman stuff. The purple Batgirl and the gitd Bane. I think that's it for me on the DC front. It's cool to hear EE is getting in the Batgirl, Riddler, and Scarecrow wave. Hopefully other online retailers get them in soon too. I have some on BBTs and some on GameStop
