McFarlane DC Multiverse

Mullet Superman has to have a Platinum variant in the Resurrection suit.
If so it would require some different tooling. Aren't all platinum chase variants just different paint jobs? Trunks, boots, and cuffs are all different between those two looks. If Todd phoned in a black suit (ie the regular Superman look, just black), that would save me a head ache. Just make black suit Superman a standard release done correctly. Please?

That’s what I thought about the Platinums too. But recently it’s gone beyond different paint apps. Kite Man and Dark Archer both have different heads. Some are now including different accessories. Even some fabric jackets that the regular figures don’t have.

I at least have some hope for the Pieter Cross Dr. Mid-Nite Platinum. Both costumes have a similar look, but really can’t be achieved with just paint.

Full on twist would be a Red Platinum Beth Chappell Dr. Midnight. I’ll take all three please.

Scarecrow is MAGNIFICENT.

Super classic and yet utterly terrifying.
Well done.

Finally made my way over here from Fwoosh. Cool to see this thread alive and well.

Feel like these latest releases have been mostly slam dunks except for the silliness with Batman Inc. They released Batman and Superman with seam lines for years then removed them once they got to costumes that actually had seam lines. Was really looking forward to Batman Inc before seeing it, but it’s an easy pass.

Happy to grab Scarecrow, Riddler, Midnite. All great looking figures. They really nailed the Hush look for Riddler.

God, those lazy repainted Batgirl, Inc Batman, Gold Batman, Chair Batman and Black Mask Batman re so boring. Scarecrow, on the other hand, looks solid. And at the very least they appear to have put some actual care and thought into it because it's reuse of the old and forgotten pre-BHL Jokerized Batman. That's also why Crane is so jacked here.

On the other side of the spectrum is Dr. Midnight who feels like a total home run of a figure.

Based on observations of other previous, similar, Bat heavy waves, this should hit Wal-Mart before the McFarlane store. There are typically Platinums as well. Which seem show up randomly and unannounced. Wal-Mart loves them some Batman.

It's a story we see a lot with domestic figures now. Cheap and easy reuse the vast majority of the time but every so often we get an exception. The Scarecrow, I think, looks pretty amazing and I can't wait to get him. The stuff I'm seeing on him, the texturizing and the paint wash is stuff they don't bother with much anymore. I mean, if they did this to Ragman I would have bought him....even knowing nothing about him. Instead they took a blank standard male buck and tampoed the rags on? Come on.

It would be sweet if we got Scarecrow in hand for Halloween, but I don't think that's happening.

So much Batman, and I like it. That's my favorite DC thing to collect. I think I will get Scarecrow (the best of the bunch), Batman Inc. Batman, Batgirl, Earth 2 Batman, Black Mask Batman, and Hush Riddler. So, now we will have Hugo Strange and Black Mask as Batman, but no regular Hugo or Black Mask. I wish Todd would knock those out before he wraps it up.

As the odd man out concerning the Batman, I have to say that I understand it. Batman sits at the center of the DC Universe, and really the entertainment Universe itself. To say nothing of the licensing worth literally millions of dollars. I read somewhere that Batman is the most lucrative fictional character/intellectual media property of all time. All inclusive of Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Luke Skywalker, the Lone Ranger, and all the rest. I get why James Gunn is going so slowly. I get why Todd makes so many Bat related characters. Todd at heart is a comic book artist, and by definition, in love with Batman anyway. The clock is running. Todd needs to recoup some of his investment. Going out with Batman in the lead makes sense to me.

I’ve gotten more out of this line than I ever would have thought six years ago. Truthfully more than I got from Mattel which was substantial at the time. Still plenty in the pipeline of a non Bat nature to hold my interest. Really wanna see Jack Knight and Zatanna. Soon.
